If I were a child I suspect that my feelings for Fleetwood beach would be much the same as for a treasured comfort blanket – it has a welcoming familiarity that I find calming – and in a week where I lost the will to breath, never mind the will to take photographs, it was a pleasure to spend an hour there this afternoon.
Anyway, apologies for the unscheduled delays with chromasia – things have been crap lately – but illness and technology permitting, things should get back to normal fairly soon.
Oh, and thanks for all the thoughtful comments on my last shot. When I've revived a bit I'll pick up the threads.

Really neat shot. Looking at it almost makes me feel anxious. The stone looks to be perched there so precariously, as if you caught it during its roll to the edge.

The bokeh (I love that word) and colours are brilliant, really zen'esque kind of shot.

Great to have you back Dave - i've been craving my fix of Chromasia ;) And welcome back with a great shot too. Love the colours :)

Mark stated my thoughts exactly. Ironic you titled this photo "Comfort.." because looking at it makes me feel anxious! That rock or egg or whatever it is is about to fall off.
comment by RustyJ at 12:25 AM (GMT) on 19 November, 2005
I like the way the colours/shades of what is in focus matches the colours/shades in the background (i.e.dark to light). Egg, ball, planet, rock it does seem precarious. My sons would love that rock.
Great shot. Thank you.

This is such a typical Chromasia shot to me... You write that you feel like home at that beach, I feel like home when a shot like this pops up on my screen (I've had Chromasia as start page for half a year now). However, there are something which distrubs me in the picture, but now as much as I'm happy about getting this familiar feeling when my browser opens. Thanks. Cheers.

I like the foreground a lot but the bokeh on the pier (at least I'm assuming it's a pier) is a bit distrcting. It's got kind of a harsh quality to it that draws you're eye into it a bit too forcibly IMO. Colours are lovely throughout though.
comment byJamey at 02:07 AM (GMT) on 19 November, 2005
Errr.. My spelling and grammar aren't normally that bad, I promise. Add an A into 'distrcting' and 'you're' should of course be 'your'. Apologies.

I hope that you are ok and not suffering too badly with whatever is going on in your life. I've been there and done that after a business collapse and serious illness. It was a sobering time.
Stay strong.

There's a tension in this that I can't quite explain to myself. Perhaps it's a dread that the rock will roll off its perch. The distant pier is deliciously out of focus.
