What can you say about road-markings? Nothing much, at least not after a day at work, beyond the fact that they caught my eye.

Two Pi? Love the vibrant yello...

comment by owen b at 10:53 PM (GMT) on 5 December, 2005

I love finding odd little close-up shots like this from everyday surroundings, and the bumps catch the light really well. Lots of detail and lovely colour.

comment by Mayo at 10:54 PM (GMT) on 5 December, 2005

For a shot of something so inherently dirty, its a very 'clean' photo. The additional imbedded tire marks really make the yello stand out - very nice.

what (and how) are the (vignetted) faded black areas in the left and bottom right corners? were they part of the original shot or added after the event?

I have been coming back to chromasia for quite a while, and have to say that on the whole, the photos are really great to look at - both in passing, and in more depth. the comments are an endless source of 'educational' critisism and discussion... I thought I'd join in at some point, too.

Great texture, eye catching shot.

I love trying to guess where in Blackpool these pics are, but this one I'm struggling with!

Something like this would catch my eye too. I do like taking pictures of certain road markings. Can I ask what sort of processing you did to this? Much levels adjusting? Did you make the yellow much more defined?

comment by flying cow at 01:08 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

i like the texture but somehow, this picture doesnt work for me..... a little too abstract maybe

comment by Geoff at 01:44 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Lovely. Just my cup of tea. (Although as it's 35 degrees down under at the moment, I'd rather have a beer) :) Good work Dave.

I love the texture of the road and the yellow color surely caught my eyes. I like this photo.

really love this shot...i enjoy how the yellow makes the road come alive :-)

comment by Ahamed at 06:16 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

The detail and the textures are really interesting. I like how you can't tell what is written with the paint.

comment by Still at 07:01 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

An abstract one. Strong. I like it.

Really nice Dave.

Definitely

Lovely colours and textures, and a really strong composition. I really like this one.

comment by peter at 09:27 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Nice one. Dynamic, texture you can practically feel and great colour

comment by Dan at 09:50 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Great composition, I like all the diagonals, and the detail is great, very vibrant.

comment by michael sarver at 10:50 AM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Wonderful detail here. I agree with the above comments too; although, it seems almost to "clean" to be true... Maybe that is why I like it so much...

Yes, this is great, and I love most of your photos....the mood they portray. I especially like your post processing, please do tell what your workflow is in Photoshop.

I was at Daniel Sage's party when this one was posted, but it's quality.
Can you shut the door please?

comment by owen at 12:20 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Great stuff. Lovely details and contrast.

comment by stephanie at 02:12 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Lovely shot! I'll never know what in the road this could be but I keep studying thinking that it will come to me. I may have to stick with the first comment about 2 pi. The detail in this is great. Needed your inspiration during my vacation over the weekend!!

comment by pierre at 04:30 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

That's really good, well seen

comment by Francesco at 05:14 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

nice details and colors!

comment by Mike at 05:47 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Such a vivid yellow in light of the grey tones. Very nice.

comment by djn1 at 07:15 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Thanks everyone. As for the road markings seeming to be really clean – it had been raining for a while ;-)

comment by Judi at 07:35 PM (GMT) on 6 December, 2005

Thought provoking and ".... may ask ..... , how did this happen?" Good to look at, thinking of the heavy truck that made those tire marks. Probably making a delivery somewhere. And, how long ago was the corrective asphalt placed on the 2 lines? And.... on. Fun site, like it!

comment by Jennifer at 06:26 AM (GMT) on 7 December, 2005

Sorry...I don't "get" this one.

comment by Urvi at 07:19 AM (GMT) on 7 December, 2005

A friend said I should check this site out and I'm glad I did. The shots I've seen thus far are all lovely and I look forward to seeing more. I'm an amature photographer with my own photoblog too if you'd like to see them sometime it is in the URL posted.
