This is something of a simple image in comparison to the last four HDR images that I've put up, but a) I don't have any more to share with you at the moment (though may have by the end of tomorrow), and b) don't have anything else to put up anyway. That said, I do like the simplicity of signage such as this.

Oh, and just a quick reminder to let you know that John Washington's site is currently running at washingtonmedia.co.uk rather than johnwashington.co.uk. Apparently John has sorted out the mixup with his domain registration but it will take a day or so for the DNS changes to propagate.

Love this shot!!! The colours are fantastic!!!

comment by Brett Admire at 08:06 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Yes I love the colors.. very nice

comment by alan at 08:21 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

The colors AND the subtle reflection... great image.

comment by nuno f at 08:25 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Simple and creative. The colors are very vivid and pleasant and the broken details of the sign makes this photo.

David, I think the cropping information in the EXIF data is incorrect.

comment by Jon at 08:25 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Oh so simple but it works, nice one.

comment by Gavin at 08:27 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Wonderful colours, simple but effective! Your surge of HDR images on chromasia recently has opened a whole new world in photography for me. They've been fantastic, & thank you!

comment by djn1 at 08:30 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

nuno: thanks, I've corrected it.

comment by schmee at 08:39 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

lovely orange, terrible typeface

comment by JD at 08:45 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Nice image, glad your not meaning this as a literal reference to the site tho!

Love the reflections and the colours, very subtle and bold at the same time.
Signage always seems a bit of a cliche at, but the colours distracted me from that.
I always love black, yellow and white, but in this case I think the greens and blues are the eye catchers ;)

That sign has seen some action. It looks pretty beat up. Just wondering what kind of shop it was.

comment by john at 09:22 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

I had to click through just to see if you were closing the site. :-)

comment by djn1 at 09:27 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

john: lol, no, but it would be a good one to use if I ever do decide to shut up shop. If you see it appear again at some later date, it's probably bad news ;-)

comment by ryan at 10:05 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Scared me! I had the same reaction as John. I thought you were closing down! Relieved now.

comment by Jeet at 10:33 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

You captured the colours very nicely. The signboard looks battered, what kind of shop is it?

comment by djn1 at 10:35 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

dcr and Jeet: I'm not sure – I wasn't paying much attention – but I think it was a café.

comment by Jem at 11:06 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

I'm loving your HDR images up to press Dave - but you know that already :P

Despite this being a relatively simple shot, I like it. I like the sharpness and the complimentary colours. Nice choice with the square format too :)

comment by Luisa at 11:07 PM (GMT) on 28 February, 2006

Ah, thanks for the information about John's site.

how bland

comment by blake at 04:24 AM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

I like it. It's got a great little glow to it.

comment by Carter Rose at 07:31 AM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Its nice and simple. good shot. Postworthy for sure.

comment by Louise at 08:01 AM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Beautiful, the yellow of the sign is beautifully set off by the green/blue background

comment by Navin Harish at 08:11 AM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Nice colours and contrast. The reflection in the glass makes it even better.

comment by SteveO at 09:19 AM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Thats pretty cool, i like the crop and the colours.

comment by Rob at 01:45 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Great colours as ever, but love the simplicity

comment by Jasp at 02:19 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

If the sign had been straight it would have lost the impact...now how did you arrange that ? :-) Looks like 70's style writing have they been shut that long ? Has a lot of meanings this phrase. Nice shot.

comment by MikesRightBrain at 06:51 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Very nice. I love that green string; the dynamics of the image would have been so much less without it!

comment by Ellie at 07:30 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Awesome picture! Consider posting this on www.thevisualdictionary.net (its a cool site to check out) i really like the simplicity of this, i nearly thought that Chromasia was closed for the day! It looks like the sign is hanging mid air...

comment by Matt Greco at 08:11 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

nice tilt

comment by kikko77 at 08:14 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

nice one. i love the smear

comment by David at 08:46 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

I sense a starkness to this. Because of the proximity of the sign, it also implies BUGGER OFF! -anyone agree? David, I've become a fan of the site. The technical detail in some of your photos is impressive.

comment by david at 08:54 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

Does this mean your blog is closed! only kidding :) This is a cool pic..cheers

comment by djn1 at 09:35 PM (GMT) on 1 March, 2006

May I borrow this? ;)

comment by adena at 12:37 AM (GMT) on 2 March, 2006

why does it remind me of a block of cheddar?
:-) great shot, nonetheless.

comment by Kelvin Chan at 01:11 AM (GMT) on 2 March, 2006

I suppose when you've been putting up fantastic shots most of the time, even a shot as bland as this one can still stir much compliments. (And most of your pictures are great.)

comment by Muramasa at 09:03 AM (GMT) on 2 March, 2006

Very nice shot, that yellow color is very appealing. Looks edible and makes me hungry.

comment by prasoon at 05:45 PM (GMT) on 2 March, 2006
