I like the textures so different and so similar. Cool.

195 tiles, not bad, so you didn't even get an image of yourself tiling? I find it hard to believe!! lol, no seriously, that would be a bad idea actually, you may end up with a lens cover permanently sealed!! Blimey i'm waffling, Sleep!! Nice image, double yellow lines = No tiling on a Sunday and lots of fun with Camera for Mr D Nightingale!! Take it easy !!

I like the diagonal between solid and liquid states and the yellow stripe that defines the boundary. The contrast between the smoother texture of the asphalt (tarmac) and the usually smooth water is a contrast of another kind.
Obviously the wind was very strong and I'm a bit surprised that even 1/180 was fast enough to cancel the affect of it blowing on the sail-person holding the camera. ;-)

great shot! i'm guessing that the parking lot is a bit too close to the ocean? it makes for a really interesting visual juxtaposition.

superb! the stark yellow really draws the eye, and i'm really enjoying the flowing lines, both of the yellow, the water, and its reflection.

Great photo. Now why didn't I spot that. Simple and very effective Dave.

Nice shot. Simple, yet very effective. I think it's because it is somewhat enigmatic. It has a mystery to it, despite the simplicity. Good work.

nice. i like that yellow color and grey color on the way. nice

I like it, sharp, contrasty, diagonal composition is a bit john washington esque.
I remember the first shot that I saw of yours which involved the road and yellow lines. I found them very inspiring (love yellow on black), but im yet to even attempt a similar shot for fear of mere imitation.

Thanks everyone.
As for the movement in the water: it was quite windy.
Hey!
i really like this shot, and I'm not sure why. Maybe because water and roads don't often mix, if you know what I mean. I like the lighting on the water. Tell me this wasn't a lot of postprocessing! :-D
comment byMAMZi at 04:16 PM (GMT) on 13 March, 2006
great shot. I like how the wind has made a plastic wrap effect on the water.

Love it. I've been experimenting recently with shots of curbs -- especially with reflections in the surrounding puddles. I really like this one of yours.

Nice... I've been wanting to take a photo like this for a while, but never found the right spot for one - that and having the guts to risk looking like a complete idiot to passers by as you take photos of a bit of raod ;).

If the yellow lines weren't there it could almost be a wave at the beach - I like it. Was it an action shot? The water looks like it's moving...
Good work, David. You can make anything (almost) exiting. The way you darken sands and asphalt is outstanding. I like it...
abstract.
generally i like abstracts.
something about the framing is not quite right here though.
can't pin-point it
Good abstract with little teeny-tiny wavelets (also known as ripples). I'm interested in anything that has moving water -- did you step in the puddle?
I agree with Free Spirit. When I saw this shot I associated immediatly with a beach. Another fantastic photo. :-)
I didn't associate this with a beach...but I do really like this one.
