For the first time in ages, two things came together today: Libby and I both had a bit of free time and all the kids were out of the house (either at school or in nursery). So, rather than make the most of the time (and risk yet more offspring), we decided to go up to Fleetwood beach for a while ;-)
As you can see, Libby is stomping through the background of an otherwise reasonably composed shot and – touch wood, fingers crossed, and any number of other incantations – she's feeling considerably better than she was this time last week so it looks as though we're done with health scares for the time being.
On another matter: I've made some changes to the anti-spam protection on chromasia. Let me know if you have any problems posting comments.

This looks like someone angrily walking away from a twisted and melting face. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's interesting!

This is a superb shot I have to say for me its head and shoulders above the last three images you've posted, excellent.

My first comment here, although I browse your site several times a week and really appreciate your photographs : in order to increase the level of security of your website and fight spam more efficiently, I suggest that you should not explain which security measures you have taken and what techniques you are using to avoid spam ;). One of the most important security measures is to avoid giving hackers and spammers any information about the security of you system.
Glad everything is back in order Dave. I noticed a lot of superfluous code in the RSS feed - it this a little hiccup or another part of your anti-spam measures? I'd be interested to know if you still get any spam after all of that - it really does sound like you've got it all well and truly covered. Lovely shot BTW :)
Jacques: good point. I've amended my entry to be less specific.
owen: nope, I've not changed my RSS feeds. Could you let me know which bits of code are superfluous?

Great capture again. Love the grittiness, guess that comes along with the photo of sand.
BTW, not mentioning the specifics of your fixes may be a smarter thing to do, but don't rely on "security through obscurity". In the end you can't beat a well secured system. Security through obscurity is the weakest method.

David can I ask why you shoot with Exposure bais of -2/3, I've noticed you shoot at that or -1/3 on most of your landscapes but can't really tell why.
Care to shed some light on this please?
Love the way you work on the sky in this shot. Well done.

The textures are very cool. And I see you added the coComments, still trying to get that to work on my site.

Smooth tones and great composition. Glad to see your wife walking around in a shot; she must be feeling heaps better.
The sky is so smooth in your images. Even after what seems like heavy processing they don't seem to suffer from any noise. Do you run your images through Noise Ninja or something similar?
comment by dolls at 07:25 AM (GMT) on 19 May, 2006
Marvellous.
Did you remove anything from the right side of the image or did the repeating pattern emerge naturally?
comment bySteveO at 10:25 AM (GMT) on 19 May, 2006
Nice shot, what is it by the way, looks like a bin thats been set on fire and melted (get a lot of that where i live). Glad to hear your wife is feeling better.

While I do like the last few posts, I still like ones with less use of after shoot processing. i hope you post more "original" ones in future. And nice to hear that Libby is ok :)

Love your photos. I have been watching your photos for quite some time, and never posted any comments, so i thought i would today... All your photos are wonderful... One thing i was wondering though, what does your digital workflow look like - if it is posted somewhere on the site, i am sorry, i must have missed it... Just wondeirng because i am not the best at digital darkroom techniques, and looking for some pointers...
Thanks for all the wonderful photos, they truely are an ounce of inspiration every day...

I realy like this shot. I think the figure in the background adds to it. My first thought was of a post apocolyptic scene with one of the remaining people in the background. I guess that's the toning. Cool blog, I shall be subscribing to your feed!
Sysagent: the processing on this one was relatively straightforward. I converted to B&W with the channel mixer and toned it with a Curve.
Jide: left to their own devices, most digital cameras will over-expose at least a part of the image ... and this isn't good news as there's absolutely no way of recovering blown out areas of a digital image.
Steve: what are 'coComments'?
Robert: yes, I used noise ninja on the sky.
Philippe: I'm not sure I understand your question as converting to B&W makes no difference to the sharpness of an image.
dolls: well spotted. I didn't remove anything, but I did stretch this area of the image a little.
Glad to hear things are getting back to normal! This is definitely my favourite out of the last few shots, the figure on the horizon makes the shot work better I think. I hadn't noticed the stuff on the right until 'dolls' mentioned it, now I can't seem to draw my eyes away from it. :(
Neil: after your comment and the one 'dolls' left I decided to do a bit more work on this one. The version that's up now has had that area of the image tidied up a bit.
Just thought i'd let you know that whatever it was that I saw on your RSS feed has now cleared itself up. From memory though I think it was the hiverwire enkoder stuff that popped in the RSS feed on NewsGator. Fixed now though :)

Very interesting ambiance, beautiful tonal quality, great as usual.

very very nice shot!
