I do have three more shots to put up that I took on my walk with Libby the other day, but we went to Blackpool's Gay Pride 2006 today so I thought I'd share some of those first. The weather wasn't great, but the atmosphere and the people were wonderful.
There were some great characters to photograph, including quite a few of the Funny Girls, but in my usual disorganised way, I didn't manage to write down anyone's names. I did hand out some cards, so hopefully people will get in touch and say hello.
How could you not take this one?!! Stunning detail and colour. Matches nicely your earlier images of the painted booths along the front - Blackpool to a T

Great shot! By the way nice hairdo and interesting make up.
But in my mind the eyes are too dark and they look a bit underexposed.

It's a very colourful picture but for me fails to hit the spot, it's just to reminiscent of those forced smiley pictutres from special occasions everyone has in their albums.

Heh a "typical" inhabitant of Blackpool eh David ;-)
Nice colourful shot, but the smile is looking a wee bit forced...
Great shot! Seems to be a very nice... person to ;)

It's a detailed, warm portrait that really captures his leanining twoard the extravagant. At first I thought the eyes were too white, but taken in context with the heavy makeup; it works.
I like the Anna-Nicole Smith look-a-like. Nice bling on the neck too.

Nice one, I did a few shots during the last Mardi Gras Parade in Sydney, it's here, here and here. I did a video of the Parade as well. Enjoy! ;) Cheers.

Hope to do some shots on pink monday. Always nice to have these colorfull festivities. the best i like in this shot is the colors of "her hair" , especially the curls.
Sysagent: yep, the smile isn't overly natural, but then neither is the persona; i.e. a drag queen, almost by definition, is never going to look comfortably natural – that's part of the point.

I think the forced smile ads to it. Something along the lines of what djn1 said. I like the closness also, not very common in pictures from Gay Pride type things.
I'm glad I found your blog. :)

Cool shot. A lot of details.
Classic shot. This is a familiar scene in Sydney at certain celebration times, but the makeup maybe is not as perfect...
Lovely potrait, superb details!
Good lord! He would be right at home at Columbus' DooDah Parade.
