This is the last of the shots I'll be putting up from Blackpool's Gay Pride 2006 festival last weekend, at least for the time being, and I don't have anything too profound to say about this one other than that I think her expression is wonderful.

What a shot! Looks like she would be a good babysitter.

Another great portrait. Nice job of getting the exposure. All black clothes and fair-skin usually means over exposed face. I know, cause I often turn into a ghost in pictures with my fair skin.

Seem to have 'Eagles' fans commenting - something from 'Hotel California' yesterday and 'Witchy Woman' today!! ‘Tis a great shot and a lovely expression – though the smile doesn’t quite reach her eyes – wonder what she’s thinking……..

Nicely presented theme this week, Dave. All the images were very memorable and well done. Even the extra helping of "food for thought" was a touching addition.
This is my (hands-down) favorite of the shots because, in this one, *everything* seems in perfect balance; subject, moment of capture, composition, tone, color, sharpness, dof, crop, the whole enchelada.
As you pointed out earlier in the week, events like this provide a photographer-friendly environment, where people almost expect to have their picture taken, in contrast to the suspicion that street photography often elicits.
In a follow-up comment (that a mischevious glitch had for lunch), I offered the further suggestion that many types of "events" also provide an added photographic opportunity due to the often heightened emotion of the participants.
Street images are often their most powerful when they evoke a strong melancholy--due mainly to the self-recognition and mundane we find in them. Conversely, this image (for me), captures *precisely* the powerful energy, joy, and spirit of the moment that's hard to find (much less capture) in any venue other than an event such as this.
I grateful you were there to capture it, and later so able to craft such a nice gift for everyone lucky enough to see and visit. Cheers!

You're absolutely right. Her expression is amazing. It's possible to know what she was feeling by that time only seeing her smile and the glow in her eyes. Trully beautiful. :-)

Nice teeth!
Male or female tho Dave ;-)
Great shot tho, I love the DOF on it and the image as a whole...

I'm not sure how many sci-fi fans there are, but she would fit right into the movie "Serenity." As with the previous images, the tone fits the subject and works better at conveying feeling than a 100% accurate version with real-life color.
I've appreciated this short series Dave. Personally speaking I think, your work is maturing. I know that your skill in photoshop lends itself well to producing what many would consider to be 'chromasia' images but I think this more restrained approach is great as well.
You have always stated that PS can't rescue a bad initial image and I agree. These last 3 photos have been processed well in my opinion and just about right for the subjects.
I would like to see much more of this kind of work from you - but that's just me being selfish ;-)
Wonderful. I love her expression and as always the post-processing is superb. Great bokeh too - adding a lovely smooth backdrop to the shot without distracting the eye. Superb.
I like the light to this. A goth character portrayed in a fittingly dark landscape. I think the flash has really done the work on this. Ultra shallow depth of field and great skin tone.

A great pic! I love the comments because everyone seems to really "get" this one.
Perfect composition. Impressive job on the fill (guess some of the credit must go the Canon on that). Without the spike, a 100 shot. With the spike, about 108.
As said in several ways, the apex of the moment, a cresendo capture.
Love it. Perfect timing, dof etc. I'd bet she'd like a copy if she saw it as she looks great. Probably looks very good in b&w also, but I like the skin tone in muted colour.

good portrait...i like it...nice expresion...
Fantastic image. She really does look like she's from some future version of the Wild West. I agree, great expression.
What a shot! Looks like she would be a good babysitter.

One of the best street shots I have seen. I just don't know how you do it!
Yesssssss!!! Best of the series. I really like this shot. Maybe it's due to her expression, or is it a man? better wait until you clarify...
this time i recognzes that she's a woman.

Ignore my post from yesterday... this is my favorite.
Great portrait, very expresive.
This is far and away my favorite of this series David. Beyond your usual post processing genius, her expression is what makes this shot for me.
Great portrait - you can't help smiling with her.
Looks like a witch.
Exactly
Might not be "the best" of the Gay Pride series but my fave non the less.
Wonderful emotions captured here! Very nice shot.
