Yesterday, I mentioned that I intended to head off to the beach with Camilla as there were a few shots I wanted to try out, but, what with one thing and another, it didn't happen. Also, I'm going down to Bristol tomorrow and won't be back until late Tuesday evening (let's hope I come back with a better shot than the miserable effort I put up after my trip last year). In the meanwhile chromasia will be running on autopilot; i.e. entries will be going up, but I won't be around to comment.
As for this shot: it was taken a couple of weeks ago on St. Annes beach and the distortions, in this instance, are a consequence of the heat haze along the horizon.
Update: I should probably add, despite the title, that these are full-scale vehicles on the horizon and not toys.

At first glance, this looks like a computer generated image harking back to the days of Deluxe Paint on the Amiga circa 1985. The blue of the sky, and the yellow of the sand looks almost comi-book (or should that be travel brochure) perfect. However this is an amazingly strong image, and I love it. I would love to find out how much (if any) Post Processsing was applied in Adobe Photoshop. Dave; I wish I had your eye for such a shot.
Moonhead: the original version did have more sand at the bottom, but I preferred this crop.
rambohoho: yes, it's not too bad, but I did have to clone a couple of spots.
Frap: unusually I used the 'options' button within the Curves dialogue for this one, and other than a bit of a boost to the saturation I didn't do too much else to this one.
I'm not quite sure what to make of this shot.
I do like how the machines on the horizon look like little toys, however the rest of the photo seems overwhelmingly empty and uninteresting.

Thanks all, and apologies for the confusion as to whether these were real trucks or toys. Anyway, I'm heading off to Bristol in the next half hour or so – see you on Tuesday.

What a stunning shot the heat haze and your positioning of the horizon really add to the overall composition.

I like the perspective. The blue is a pretty mad unifrom azure. I love those vehicles I shot one on a recent trip but it was dwarfed by the boulders on the shore. Interesting shot.

Hi Dave,
Like 'The Long Road' and 'The west Wind' I love this style of shot. It fully excentuates the vastness of being, and I just love it. Big sky and big sea shots really hit the spot for me.
Great stuff.

Great shot. nice one
Simple, yet it works out pretty darn good! :)
Great composition. I love the vast expanse of Blue. I personally would have liked a tadge more sand at the bottom.

This is a FUN shot! It just elicits memories of happy, sun-filled, play-filled days. I love the blue expanse and the tiny strip of sand. Love it.
