Fine composition - diagonally placed person and an almost horizontal wall (plus horizon itself:). Desaturation done well, nice vignette. I think nothing has changed - your photos are still professional and charming:). And this person - is he Paul H. (just asking)?

Question! How did you extract all that texture? Initially I thought this was HDR but it's not so may I ask what you did?
comment byJamey at 01:54 AM (GMT) on 25 June, 2006
Those clouds are ace and the rest of the photo's not too shabby either. How did you colour the mono on this one? I've tried to get the same shade of yellowy brown but I always end up too red or too green. Can never seem to get the balance just right.

My initial reaction was that it's a photo of Charlie Waite. The clouds are fab and the toning's somewhat inspired too.

i love the colours. how did you achieve that tone?

Sometime I think that the pictures you take of each other taking pictures are much better than the other pictures you take. I wish I lived in a city wher I could lie down like this to take a picture.

I'm impressed. You consistently get a great variety of pictures from the same environment. I suppose that's just the sign of the good photographer that you are.
This is very cool - I love the textures and the beautiful smooth tone of the sky. The dark boots combined with the vignetting and the composition just really draw you in. Nice one!

Cool shot, Dave. Everithing seems to be bade of stone, textures are so sharp and perfect.
The only thing I would have hidden better is the mask applied on the sky, which overlaps on the sea, revealing its presence in a little unnatural way....

Jide: the light was relatively flat so all I really did with this one was selectively adjust the contrast in different areas of the image using various masked Curves.
Jamey: it's toned using the Curves tool by altering the Curve for the three channels: red, green, blue.
marco: you're quite right. I've reworked the image and the mask isn't quite so noticeable now. Part of the 'problem' is that there was a relatively dark band just below the horizon in the original shot so the new version plays this down a bit.

I half expected to see a "workman's arse" hanging in the middle of the shot, but praise the lord John was covering this area up...
;-)
Great shot and amazing textures, I too like the toning on the image and also the clouds do look pretty neat.

Hah! reminds me of a shot taken of myself, by my friend josh...
I was going to call this one "did he get it?", but just having spoken to him, he did. It's not up yet, but I imagine he'll post it later in the week.
