A year or two ago I don't think I would have dreamt of putting this one up – it's relatively flat, there's no clear focal point (and there are a whole host of other things I might previously have lamented) – but today, it fits my mood, or, more accurately, it fits my aspirations: peace and quiet, the sea at my feet, and the sun bouncing gently off the horizon.

Surprising angle. Why not....familiar scene looks different. You have look at it and decide what you really see. There´s so much to see when you´re willing to watch.

At first glance I thought..hmm this isn't a typical chromasia shot. But if it works for you then cool. Oh btw I feel like I'm falling off the earth

I am not crazy about this one. It makes me dizzy.
comment by Angela at 08:30 PM (GMT) on 14 August, 2006
It looks like the water is falling off the Earth. I love it. With the busy-ness of every day, you can never have an excess of the things that make you feel at peace. It just sweeps you away. Perfect.
I like the tilted angle. It's so much easier to get both foreground, midleground and background in the image with a tilted angle... the colours are more natural than usual - are you feeling natural today? :) on the other hand, I could have made this myself and that's not necessarily a good thing (if you were going for a technically perfect shot) :D

The colours of this photo and of "Change of Pace" (19/7/06) have inspired my choice of colours for my new home. Thank you.

David, I actually like the different perspective and the change from the chromasia look. I think change in one's style is a good thing from time to time. The images reminds me of when I fllew over the sea in a helicopter and banked left to right as the horizon shifted.

I give up. That's brilliant and I never would have thought of it.

At last a photograph that I could have taken - albeit accidentally! ;-)

Roger: my wife had the same reaction to this one.
[PIXEL VIKING]: not sure I'm feeling "natural', but I do feel the need for some simplicity.
Jessica: thanks, your comment made my day :-)
Jamey: lol ;-)
Jennifer: is that a good thing then? ;-)

Interesting, but lacks something for me. Perhaps more of the horizon would have worked? I'm not sure.

Stand back just a foot or so (and suspend reality) and you see a gargantuan geosphere. The curve of the Earth curbed by the sky. It's what the world might look like from inner space....if land masses were flooded with mammoth waves.
Whoops...that breaker is just engulfing South America!
Game over :(

I'm with Jennifer, I think I took a similar shot last month just before the final shot of tequilla set in for the afternoon...

I like it, but I agree with Roger - makes me dizzy :)

Great shot. I love the way sky turned out. I also took a shot quite similar to this. Evening at a beach

I like the light along the horizon. That's where this photo takes me.
comment byPlasticTV at 12:31 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
Yea it didn't look like your usual style. This is too raw and unprocessed compared to what you normally put up.
comment byalex at 01:39 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
When I first looked at it I thought two things;
'Wow, I like it', and,
'oo, I feel sick'
I think it's a whole lot nice for none of the post-process.
It reminds me of being on the beach, doing handstands and cartwheels, getting crazily dizzy and not being quite sure of which way is up.
comment bypeter at 01:39 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
I dunno - the light's nice, the colours are lovely and my desk is wet because there is water pouring out of my monitor...If ithe picture was more abstract and less instantly recognisable, the tilted angle would IMHO work far better and leave me less dizzy because my brain isn't compensating for screen induced vertigo :-)
comment bySteveO at 01:51 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
I like this, the sort of pastel colours give it a nice peaceful feeling as does the slight flatness. I did something similar to this here but it has a completely different atmosphere to yours.
comment bystar at 01:57 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
it's probably the angle that makes the picture look... different than what it really is. but i love the color of the sky even if it is not the focal point. i rarely see a sky that's bluer than the sea.
comment by Mary at 03:06 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
I like the angle. Like the water is going to rush over me and take me away. The blue in the sky compliments the brown/tan beach very nicely. Again.. really like the angle.
comment bychantal at 05:07 PM (GMT) on 15 August, 2006
beautiful tones here...the angle is a bit much for me though. but i do like how it doesnt appear to be overly processed. sometimes its nice to just let nature 'be'
