We took the kids down to the Pleasure Beach today, and I was hoping to come back with at least one or two shots of them enjoying the rides, but the best I could manage was this rather large collection of 'crazy frog' stuffed toys. Not the most appealing of creatures, to say the least.

This is somewhat freaky. Very nice light.

comment by Ben at 09:23 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

I find the subject of this photo a bit creepy, I'll admit, but I do like the final product.

comment by Mike at 09:27 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

Nice juxtaposition of the different size frogs! Great image.

comment by m at 09:33 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

Stop it!
It's a #*@$ing nightmare! Oddly appealy however

comment by Eric at 09:57 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

I love it, especially with the black background!

comment by Molly at 10:00 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

...so much for sweet dreams!

comment by Alistair Parker at 10:13 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

A spooky shot. I think this would have been a good image in full colour but this mono treatment with the coloured eyes adds a whole new dimension, quite eerie. The shot reminds me of some of Misha Gordins work, well sort of!

I have just returned from a trip to south pier there were a couple of similar shots but the stall holders where not in a very cooperative mood. I was getting funny looks so I didn't bother. Some other interesting stuff though!

comment by Ash at 10:26 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

excellent shot.....definitely cool!

comment by sach1tb at 10:35 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

looks like a maze of chuckys... you did the black bg to get that effect - right?

comment by CurlyToes at 10:44 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

hehe, great picture. I hate the frog but it gave me a chuckle. What's going on with that frog's belly button?

comment by Rick at 11:24 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

Totally unexpected. I like it!

comment by [ PIXEL VIKING ] at 11:30 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

That frog is sooo annoying... The fact that there is so many of him / that / her doesn't make it any better. I guess, the photograph is cool, though :)

comment by Chris Pittock at 11:44 PM (GMT) on 21 August, 2006

I was hoping this incredibly irritating charactor had gone away. I was obiviously wrong 8-(

Good picture, dispite the suject matter.

comment by Robert at 12:34 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Looks like a CGI nightmare with the flat colors and varied yet similar expression; great stuff.

comment by Andrew at 12:47 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Love the processing in this one.

comment by Andrew F at 01:03 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

A chorus line!

comment by Mark at 01:44 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Whatever you do, don't frame this shot and put it into the girl's bedroom. You'll have to offer years of therapy if you do.

comment by Jide Alakija at 02:01 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

The moment I saw this shot....I thought....Chromasia is back!!!

comment by GraphicStudent at 02:11 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

I agree with Jide. It's about time the real Chromasia's here. Also, in the music video, this guy has a penis. Where is it??

comment by Kate at 02:36 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Funny! I love this image!

comment by Ydiot at 02:37 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

First of all I thought it was a stereogram - you know, this kind of 3D picture you need to look "through" if you want to see the 3D stuff inside - and when I found it actually wasn't one, I had to laugh. Chromasia usually makes me drool with awe, this time it made me laugh out loud.

(I just wonder whether you erased the background so that it is black or whether it was originally black)

comment by navin harish at 03:29 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Wow. Attack of the clones. A single one looks somewhat cute but a group looks downright sinister.

comment by Hannah at 05:05 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Eeek! It reminds me of the psychedelic & pink dancing elephants from Dumbo. I love it!

comment by ROB at 06:59 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Poor crazy frog is missing an appendage. Here (in video clips on the ABC at least) he has his pecker exposed. Somehoe now I have written that I wish there was something else as my first reaction to the shot!

comment by Ben at 07:50 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

What's happened to his belly button? Great shot!

comment by peter at 08:19 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

r' dingdingdingdingdingdingdingding....I think one is more than enough. This is close to my worst nightmare :-)

comment by andytye.com at 08:28 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Thats just crazy. Great shot.

comment by Kate at 08:44 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

They really do look as though they're all about to burst into song ... some kind of demented mixed version of Be Our Guest maybe ...

Can't say I LIKE it - the subject matter is too disturbing! But its still a great shot.

comment by mar00ned at 10:24 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Stunning

comment by Alison at 11:15 AM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Looks like the Photoshop Cloning Tool gone mad! ;)
Great image.

comment by Jannine at 12:30 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Maybe I live under a rock - I've never seen this guy before. He is freakin' creepy. It's the belly button does it - frogs are amphibians, hatched from eggs...no belly button. What wacky womb does he come from? Thank god they left off the penis in this version - that would morph my disturbed chuckle into an outright scream of terror. Thanks for this fun Dave!

comment by SteveO at 01:36 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Feels like a very bad dream, just glad you didn't have the song playing for this post too!

comment by 'Pong at 01:45 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Beautifully scary. Have a good night sleep!

comment by mark at 02:20 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

funny

comment by Sean at 03:01 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

I imagine these guys all singing a repetitive song about their belly-buttons.

A creepy, repetitive song, at that.

comment by justin at 03:32 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

The repetetion of the bodies reminds me of cloned fetus'. The smiles are a compliment to Dr. Jekyl. Then the blank stare is zombielike, while beings marching in formation step on the backs of children. This image is very interesting in that it portrays many different abnormal qualities of the human form which is accented by the chromasiatic lighting.

comment by Craig Wilson at 04:06 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Love the colours.

comment by otilius at 05:06 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

I would not play the game that has this for a prize...thanks for the nightmarish image...

comment by alex [gofish] at 05:28 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Looks like a CG image... all the tesselation

Scary image just before bedtime...

comment by Claude at 10:50 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Crazy image. I like it!

comment by djn1 at 11:59 PM (GMT) on 22 August, 2006

Thanks everyone, and I agree: they're ugly, the belly buttons are a mystery, and they should be erradicated from the face of the planet ;-)

comment by Deb at 12:23 AM (GMT) on 23 August, 2006

Heh. Jack has one of those. I love it. (But it has a look of George about it) :|

comment by gypsy at 06:25 AM (GMT) on 25 August, 2006

comment by Yvette at 07:56 PM (GMT) on 29 August, 2006

Those guys are so funny looking! And I agree there is something up with those belly buttons... Great shot.
