Here's another one from the Pleasure Beach. From front to back you can see The Revolution, Spin Doctor, and the Big One.
On a totally different matter: can anyone recommend a good printer in the UK that allows online uploading of images and produces high quality prints? I print anything up to 18 x 12" myself, but my larger prints get sent out. Up until recently I was really happy with the results I was getting from the company I sent them to, but over the last month or so they seem to be having some major quality control issues including badly packaged and damaged prints and ones that are way off in terms of colour. When I make my own prints, the colour is pretty much spot on, and I'd like to be able to reliably obtain the same results when I send things out. Anyway, any suggestions for companies I could use would be gratefully received.
Also, on yet another totally unrelated matter: Travis Ruse got in touch with me recently to ask if I knew of anyone who could do some work on updating and adding to his site. I did the original design, but don't have time to help out at the moment, so thought I'd ask you. Anyone who is interested would need a reasonably good understanding of Movable Type. Anyway, leave a comment on this image if you are interested and I'll let Travis know of any responses.

Very nice shot! Love the framing. Photobox are perfectly good, but if you're really concerned about quality i'd go with Peak Imaging, who are geared up towards pros a bit more, but a bit more expensive

From the time on the image I was with you when this was taken. My attention must have been diverted! A Pleasure Beach classic, all the rides in one shot, just a pity the Revolution and Big One cars are not in the shot but I suspect you could have spent the whole evening trying to get that shot. Great composition and light.

Well, back from a rewarding honeymoon and vacations. Glad to see a photo so rich in colour.
About the printing service, I usualy use Bonusprint. I'm very happy with their service. They're fast, acurate and the prices are very good. You can see the size and prices here
Hope this can help you somehow. :-)

Ah... A great ‘chromasian’ shot!
I’d also put in a word for Peak... unless it’s them you’ve been using? I haven’t had anything big run-out for a couple of months.

Do I detect a bit of creative white balancing on this photo? I've started disliking sunset silhouettes recently but I have to say this is an exception. Very well executed.

Dave, I would recommend Loxley Colour here in Glasgow. I know that they are used by Barry Beckham and David Rowley of Digital Photo fame and they use the online service and promote it on their digital tours. Personally I have had trouble with their colour calibration, but that is probably more my fault than theirs, as they suggest professional calibration tools I have never used. But these guys do, and I guess you too. They can be found here http://www.loxleycolour.com/. Hope it works out.

In addition to the obvious silhouette element here, I love the gradient created by the sun.
comment bymoonhead at 05:48 PM (GMT) on 27 August, 2006
I use http://www.dlab7.com. Its easy and cheap and the qualitiy is as good as a pro lab.
P+P is only 50p and a colour corrected 5x7 print (on proper paper) is only 22p. When you take into consideration the cost of inks (liquid gold!) and paper it costs more to print at home!
comment bySteveO at 07:20 PM (GMT) on 27 August, 2006
Great image this, i really like the colour. As for printing i usually use BonusPrint.co.uk They have always made decent prints for me, and they let you upload TIFFS (if you can stand the upload times) which some places don't allow.

Thanks all, both for your comments and for your suggestions for a printer.
Jamey: it was altered in CS2 though I did tweak the white balance before converting this one.
