I've been fitting plug sockets and laminate floor this weekend so haven't managed to get out to shoot anything new. That said, it's the start of the International Fireworks competion this evening (which runs each Sunday for the next five weeks), so I'm hoping to get some decent shots later on.
In the meanwhile, here's one of Finley that I took back in January. From what I can remember I didn't post it at the time as I thought the DoF was probably a bit too shallow. However, having looked at it again, and on the basis that I hardly ever put anything of Finley up, I thought I'd post it.

I think the shallow DoF makes the photo. Very paternal and great emotion involved. :-)

Great shot David. I wish I would have been into photography when mine were this small. Excellent.

I agree with nuno f that the shallow DOF makes the shot. A bit too shallow? Maybe. I would not mind seeing your entire hand in focus personally. Awesome moment captured djn.

Nice effort. I'd say the depth of field is perfect considering the focus of attention in the photo. Like the toning.

I don't think it's too shallow at all, David. Great shot. You must have had your arm stretched way out there for your 50mm to get this coverage!

Really sweet! Although the "big-hand-small-hand theme" has been used many times over, you injected your own meaning into it and created a wonderful image in the meantime.

I actually prefer seeing your portraits shots more than your landscapes. I love this shot. Simple and honest. Cheers!

But this doesn't qualify as that portrait of Finley you promised.

Great shot and I for one don't have any issues with the DOF being too shallow. It has a hint of all the details required.
