Here's another shot with the 70-200 f/2.8, but in this instance it doesn't much matter as this one is about the content not the tools.
And I know that this sort of shot isn't everyone's 'cup of tea', but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts nonetheless.

Looks like you have some dirt on your lens.

i love this lens, unfortunately it's a little out of my range being a poor college student like myself. i really like this picture too, the grimy-dirty feel adds so much to it. very cool man.

So its Jade. The context to the girl is apparent. Nothing to say against. Good thorough work.

I really like it Dave. The faint, subtle outline of the girl is great.
comment byclarence at 08:32 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
The 20D has an easy sensor cleaning option, I like what Canon has done with the new 400D and its dust prevention. I can see a face in the right side of this image, but I like the processing here. Nice.

I think it works. Moody and urban, with the girl in a great position beside the checkmark (Nike swoosh?)
comment byscott at 08:54 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
Great image - it's very moody and the vaguely nun-like character obscured in the background is a nice touch.

I’m not really one for urban photography, I must admit, but I do like the warm grey palette a lot.

I like it. Quite different from what you usually post. I suppose you like your new toy? ;)
Yes, this is my sort of shot. The juxtaposition of the graffiti and the person is significant.
comment by Mary at 09:31 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
I like it. Is that a reflection, a very scratched up glass, or a poster of some sort? Either way, it works. I like the tones.
comment bynogger at 09:42 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
I dunno. I like the idea but something bugs me about it - possibly the girl walking out of the frame.
comment byJohn at 10:09 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
Interesting how the image forces the eye to explore and seek out. Nice. Like the toning.
comment byGavin at 11:25 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
Awh I love this image. The girl in the background just makes it, really gives us the impression that she is actually named jade. Toning is perfect.

If that is Jade I hope you gave her a slap. Bloody vandal
comment byjezblog at 11:50 PM (GMT) on 7 September, 2006
gritty......I prefer a bit of reality myself.......maybe most of your punters prefer slick but Im definetly on for more dark under belly of blackpool. This has an interesting depth for a long lens image ....even the writing appears to be on more than one plane. The scratching and visual grot.... the name..... the girl....cool combination
comment byAndy@PhotoChron at 02:07 AM (GMT) on 8 September, 2006
I wouldn't like this nearly as much if not for the image of the girl. She really makes the shot IMO. Nice.

Jade's Ok or mabe Jade "Just did it". Interesting shot
comment byMike at 08:12 AM (GMT) on 8 September, 2006
I really like this image the content develops the more you look at it - surface scratches, shadowy figures and 'splodges' on the glass. Interesting tonality with the highlight behind the first letters of the name. Nice work.
comment byLex at 09:47 AM (GMT) on 8 September, 2006
The colouring is perfect for the mood, depth of field is good, only slight criticism would be that the woman is walking out of the frame rather than into it. It'd be good to get a picture of the bus shelter(?) plastic (without the writing and against a clear background) and trying it as a layer on top of other pictures to get a simiar gritty effect.
I'm a Nikon user but I saw the Canon 70-200 2.8 in a shop window this morning, it's a monster.

If you ask me it's always the content and not the tool that is important, and luckily the tool seems to have extracted loads of detail, of which much probably much is lost in this web version. Anyway - I thinks it's a pretty good shot with many fines details to explore.
