I've had hardly any time for taking photographs this week, and what little time I have had hasn't produced anything worth posting, so I'm archive raiding this evening. Normally, I randomly look through my various folders and files in search of something half-reasonable to put up, but this time I thought I'd look through the RAW files I shot last September. Anyway, I found this one. It's a touch overexposed, for my taste at least, but I quite like the quiet and contemplative way in which Rhowan is gazing out to sea.
I've got plenty of time tomorrow – fingers crossed – so should be able to come up with something new.
Oh, and I'm currently miles behind with responding to comments and emails so will also spend some time tomorrow catching up with both.

She has an air of maturity. Her way of sitting and looking is not very childlike. I like this contrast. Lucky children you have who will grow up with such a beautiful set of photogrpahs that have captured every moment so artistically. Most of us grow up wtih photos that have our heards cut off, over exposed, washed up by flash, and lost negatives. =) But never the less the images from when you are a child come to be ver precious as a teenager and grown up for they show yu the world that you lived through but never quite remembered to the capacity in which we remember as adults. I love children's photos for that.

Great shot.... I can't help but imagine what she's thinking about. She looks so innocent.
Beautiful composition. and great tones. I like how you spit the image where she's the main focus and everything else is secondary in a supporting way.

What I've appreciated, all along, about many of your shots (in additional to a list of many things) is the masterful use of negative space.
This one, for example, would be way too much for many--but I think your conscious choice to push the bounds of the traditional is what I find refreshing and interesting. This, to me, is exactly how negative space should be used to produce drama and balance.
And I don't find it over-exposed at all. She's sharp, and clear, with lots of detail--and seems to pop right out of the blurry and vignetted background.

Sooooo lovely - but then your kiddie shots usually are! Haven't noticed you use your macro in a while - how about giving that a whirl sometime soon?

Hi Dave,
I'm with Bob on this one. Your ability to use wide-open spaces to such great effect is what always impresses me in your shots (you probably gathered from my recent purchases!!). This shot is a real corker, Rhowan has such a demeanour of contemplation - life can be so simple.
I'm also happy with the level of exposure, because you can still see the detail in the fabric.
Nice work.

Superbe picture, a lot of melancholy is emited from the little girl. This sound a bit paradoxical from a little girl.

lovely just lovely.... she is growing into such a beautiful young lady
I like her expression, a great photo.
Very natural, well exposed (even tough a tad over at her knees), well composed. I see the sharpness of the 70-200 L. Great work!!
Now that’s a beautiful picture: perhaps my favourite one on Chromasia so far: and I don’t say that lightly!
I like the crop and the vignette. Great.
very sweet black & white. Beautiful picture
