This is another test shot with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS, again shot at 1/50. Harmony though, unlike Rhowan, is a determined poser when it comes to being photographed, barely able to sit still until the shutter's pressed before running round to see the result of the camera's LCD. This one, from what I can remember, was her idea of smiling for the camera ;-)

Very nice portrait. The b&w works very well with the white background and the soft focus effect is spot on.

Another great high key!
The pose is great... totally natural even though it -looks- like a set-up.
She's definitely a cutie!
I think maybe the only way to improve the shot is with more high end contrast (like my all-time favourite) and to open those eyes a bit.
You definitely know how to get a great high key.

How do you get this soft focus effect?
comment by Fabian Robok at 06:01 PM (GMT) on 27 September, 2006
Looking at this shot, I honestly cannot comment on focus, light of softness. This one is all about an incredible lightness, with just the slightest thinkable touch of possible worries in her eyes. Still thinking about a matching soundtrack for this picture. Something from Paul Weller or Ricky Lee Jones ...
