Yesterday, a few people requested some macro shots of the wrecks. This isn't quite a macro, but it's the best I could manage today.

What colors! Subtle, but powerful.

Rotate 90 CCW = infinity or a face.

I am collecting "photos with numbers" and have linked your photo.
Thank You.

Brilliant colours! It would be a great cover for Moby's '18' album.

Bonsoir,
Excellent framing, "piqué" (french), and beautiful abstraction!..Bravo! (sorry for my English!)

Does this have any significance to age or anything?

Thanx for the reponse about HDRI Dave. So I take you used a tripod with that shutter speed. Your colors are very poppy(saturated). Do you perhaps use a Veliva plug-in, or did you do NO PP on this shot?

Steffen: thanks for the link. Now I no about your project I'll look for some more numbers :-)

Shervane: yep, it would work well.

Isah: I don't know. This 18 appears on the prow of a small abandoned boat, along with some other numbers, some of which appear to be dates.

Felipe: yes, I used a tripod. As for the colours in this one: I did increase the saturation a little but it was more to do with adjusting the Curve than anything else.

Interestingly despite working independently we seem to have come up with photographs of the same part of two different boats. Good to see you again to day. For those who may be interested this is my wreck image.

Gorgeous composition. The colors are beautiful.

What then is the definition of a macro shot, if this shot, taken on a macro lens, is not a macro? ;)

Nice colours David, there's a tremendous amount of age on show here. Beautiful.

Higher magnification? 1:1 or greater? After all one can take great portraits with a macro lens, but they aren't macro shots!

Great photo though!

This is one of my favorites of your photos... I love the color and texture and the abstract. It is so interesting to look at...

Great colors and textures. Like the composition.

There's something appealing about being the 18th person to comment. Nice composition.

comment by Mike at 01:21 PM (GMT) on 20 October, 2006

Very appealing shot with a nice juxtaposition of materials, textures, horizontal & vertical elements and vibrant colours!

comment by John at 05:51 PM (GMT) on 20 October, 2006

I like this much better than the image of the whole boat. Maybe I'm just a lover of abstract and abstract macros but this has much more to offer in my opinion.
