I know I said I'd try and post some more shots of the kids this week, but I didn't get in until quite late, the kids were tired and probably wouldn't have welcomed being photographed, I'm tired because Finley kept me awake for most of last night – bless him – the dog ate my homework, and so on ...
... so here's one from a while ago. It was taken at Fleetwood and I've previously posted two other shots of the same structure (here and here). For some reason though I never got around to posting this one.

That's calm and peaceful. It makes me a bit dizzy though. The horizon looks straight but the tower seems to lean to the right..
And since when have you had a dog? :)

I love these water beacons, thank you for putting this one up. I've been using Water Beacon #2 as desktop wallpaper on both my PC and laptop ever since you put that picture on your blog :-)

After yesterdays masterful potrait of harmony I was looking forward to seeing more- however we must accept you have other committments as well as this journal.
For me, the /0507052015.php is a more dramatic statement about this strange structure it has more etheral qualities and bolder composition lines. For me, only the intersection of thirds composition rescues it from just an ordinary shot.

I remember very well your second photo of this structure. I like especially the gold and silver tones of the structure against the blue of the sky and water .

Nice shot, reminds me of Antarctica.
Reminds me, Planet Earth is starting again soon, will be good to watch.
The second shout you've put a link up to is a great shot!

Nice shot. I like the simple composition. The only thing bothering me is the lean of the tower. I think it needs either some rotation, or if the horizon is perfect, some skewing. Still beautiful.

Rule #1 of photoblogging - never tell people what you're going to post later in the week unless you've already got the processed, websize Jpeg sitting in a folder on your desktop.
Rule #2 of photoblogging - if you like it, they won't, and vice versa :)
My first impression of this photo was "it's leaning to the right," and I never really got past that point with it. I noticed the faded hills in the background and liked them but by then it was too late.

Like the palette on this one. The Irish tricolour of the beacon works very nicely against the blue.

Beautiful. Your eye for color never fails to impress!

I hope this isn't a boneheaded comment! (probably is.. sorry.) I find myself wishing the subject wasn't there and it was just the subtle outlines of the landscape and various shades of blue...

I like that piece of imperfect man-made structure interrupting the peace of nature.
Love the alignment of the colors as well - gold vs blue.

Thanks everyone, though I'm a bit puzzled by why everyone was troubled by the slight lean of the tower ;-)
Geoff: the dog is metaphorical ;-)
Jamey: good rules :-)
John: after I'd processed this one I quite wished the post wasn't there either, so no, it's not a bonehead commnet.

I have to say that what captures my interest the most is the color tones you are able to capture. Love the light blue shades.

This is my favourite of the three; it's the least obvious and the most delicate. The tone leaves a strong impression of the water, and the 'beacon' interrupts it, and makes it interesting. What a bleak cliché it would be if it was dead on perpendicular ;) The background reminds me of the American Rockies, if a little reduced... Really like it.
