crikey, ive just had a heart attack

comment by Photorama at 08:56 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

This is not one of my favourite shots, but it's a great idea to post it in Halloween!

comment by Graham at 09:14 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

It's topical, for Halloween, but like the comment from Photorama a shot that's not in my top ten.

On the plus side the shadowey eyes, ghostly green hue and blurr effect are a great combination to achieve the impact!

comment by ROB at 09:25 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

Its "the Incredible Hulk" junior version. Cool halloween image.

comment by mikelangelo at 09:26 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

"HULK SMASH!!!"

comment by nferreira at 09:27 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

Incredible Hulk when he was a child or a green witch? Original idea and the tone is absolutely fantastic. :-)

comment by zoidjoker at 09:37 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

That’s freaking scary. Well done.

comment by Joseph at 10:54 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

the blurryness of this picture works perfect here, I think a sharp picture would of spoiled the mood. scary stuff!

comment by m at 11:00 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

***king Hell!
Who the is that!

comment by micki at 11:16 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

comment by Robin at 11:25 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006

Wow, creepy.

comment by Psychodudu at 12:14 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

This surely can't be the same little angel-faced girl we saw yesterday!!! A top shot for Halloween David.

comment by Dave at 12:55 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Great fun, Dave! But a certain person won't thank you for it in years to come..:~D

This could be a shot from it.

comment by Jennifer at 09:22 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Excellent. Make sure you save it to show any of her boyfriends you're not fond of, in years to come! ;-)

comment by Emerald at 10:06 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

May i ask which kid this is? :s They DEFINATELY wont apreciate this lol x

comment by Geoff at 10:17 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Wow, is that Harmony? Hmmm.. I like the blurriness, I think that makes the shot really, as well as the strong contrast. I doubt this one will be anyone's favourite, but it's clever enough and well executed.

comment by Kristian at 11:39 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Don't spook 'till your spooken to!
Great shot.

comment by Craig at 12:16 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Love the blur, and the contrast between her eyes and the green skin.

comment by Iain at 12:20 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

I like this shot, i don't understand why people find it scary though. Do you think that kids can't be angry or anything, do you prefer them to be perpetually little angels like http://www.chromasia.com/iblog/archives/0610291958.php.
I think it is better to show kids as they are, a jumble of emotions as they try to make sense of a frightening complicated and bigger world around them. We must make sure not to lock them down into beauty pagent models, because it only makes us disgusted and revolted when they inevitably, do break away from them. (see above reactions).
Anyway i appreciate that it's Halloween and all i just dont like endless "beutiful baby" competition photographs like i see in my local paper. David i think you should avoid falling into the provincial photographer cliches of studio wedding photos, baby photos and family photos. Keep different stuff like this coming. It certainly is a favourite of mine.

comment by Paul Courtney at 12:57 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Hi Dave,
After your shot of Harmony a couple of days ago, I was going to say how much I thought she was looking like Libby these days. Having seen this shot today though, I'll definitely be keeping my mouth firmly shut!!!

comment by Just Some Girl at 02:11 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Lain, I think it's mostly the fact that it's Halloween and the facial expression (and clawed hands!) that makes this piece so spooky. The fun thing about this website is that fact that the photographer captures his children in a lot of different moods. Now, come on, lighten up! It's Halloween. :)

comment by Lynn at 02:52 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Sooooooo scarey!! I thought some hiker-scarey-picture crashed my computer again!

comment by bryan at 03:53 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

holy crap! that's downright disturbing. night of the zombie babies.

comment by Karl Baumann at 03:57 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

scary colors and post procession :)

comment by djn1 at 10:31 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006

Thanks everyone, and while I'm not convinced that Harmony will thank me for this one when she's older, it's good to see that it got a good response.

comment by ralf at 02:36 PM (GMT) on 2 November, 2006

aaaaaaaaaamazing!

comment by eterisk at 09:13 PM (GMT) on 2 November, 2006

really good choice to use the green processing in this, makes it really scary.

comment by John Zeweniuk at 05:38 AM (GMT) on 3 November, 2006

I don't know if it was supposed to make me laugh, but it did!

comment by Richard Houtby at 02:55 AM (GMT) on 4 November, 2006

Whoa... reminds me of those Chucky movies.

comment by Sysagent at 05:38 PM (GMT) on 5 November, 2006

Have you post processed this image or not?

;P

I have a little girl who can be just as scary if not more so than this...

comment by Rob H at 02:24 AM (GMT) on 12 December, 2006

great shot Dave I love the way children play with emotions. It is not often that photgraphs show chidren in any angry state. This photo seems to catch that for me.

comment by sarah at 04:02 PM (GMT) on 7 October, 2007

omg ! SCARY!!! :0)

comment by Dipsy at 01:11 AM (GMT) on 23 January, 2009
