This is not one of my favourite shots, but it's a great idea to post it in Halloween!
comment by Graham at 09:14 PM (GMT) on 31 October, 2006
It's topical, for Halloween, but like the comment from Photorama a shot that's not in my top ten.
On the plus side the shadowey eyes, ghostly green hue and blurr effect are a great combination to achieve the impact!

Its "the Incredible Hulk" junior version. Cool halloween image.

Incredible Hulk when he was a child or a green witch? Original idea and the tone is absolutely fantastic. :-)

Wow, is that Harmony? Hmmm.. I like the blurriness, I think that makes the shot really, as well as the strong contrast. I doubt this one will be anyone's favourite, but it's clever enough and well executed.
comment byKristian at 11:39 AM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006
Don't spook 'till your spooken to!
Great shot.
comment byCraig at 12:16 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006
Love the blur, and the contrast between her eyes and the green skin.
comment by Iain at 12:20 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006
I like this shot, i don't understand why people find it scary though. Do you think that kids can't be angry or anything, do you prefer them to be perpetually little angels like http://www.chromasia.com/iblog/archives/0610291958.php.
I think it is better to show kids as they are, a jumble of emotions as they try to make sense of a frightening complicated and bigger world around them. We must make sure not to lock them down into beauty pagent models, because it only makes us disgusted and revolted when they inevitably, do break away from them. (see above reactions).
Anyway i appreciate that it's Halloween and all i just dont like endless "beutiful baby" competition photographs like i see in my local paper. David i think you should avoid falling into the provincial photographer cliches of studio wedding photos, baby photos and family photos. Keep different stuff like this coming. It certainly is a favourite of mine.

Hi Dave,
After your shot of Harmony a couple of days ago, I was going to say how much I thought she was looking like Libby these days. Having seen this shot today though, I'll definitely be keeping my mouth firmly shut!!!
comment by Just Some Girl at 02:11 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006
Lain, I think it's mostly the fact that it's Halloween and the facial expression (and clawed hands!) that makes this piece so spooky. The fun thing about this website is that fact that the photographer captures his children in a lot of different moods. Now, come on, lighten up! It's Halloween. :)
comment by Lynn at 02:52 PM (GMT) on 1 November, 2006
