I don't have too much to say about this one, mostly because we had another bad night with Finley and I'm almost too tired to type. At some point, he'll probably sleep through the night as a matter of routine, but at the moment he wakes one or both of us at some point during the night ... which is a bit of a pain.

Interesting processing: love the colours, not sure about the effect. Nice, though!
Just think: he’ll be a teenager before you know it, and sleeping through the day, too...

I like this. Simple and lovely tones. I think I could have lived without the band of water across the bottom. A little distracting maybe.

the little strip of water looks a bit out of place, especially in the thumbnail version. still, this is another really cool shot

unique use of space. i really like the color tones you used here. you tend to lean towards green/brown most of the time so the blue is refreshing. great image david.

putting copy protection on the screen images to prevent use to others as desktop background images is a reverse step. if you want to claim copyright, then you shouldn't be doing it by the back door.
very disappointed. might even result in removal from 'favorites'
comment by JD at 11:36 AM (GMT) on 5 November, 2006
Whoa. He doesn't have to CLAIM copyright, he already OWNS copyright by dint of the fact that he took the picture, and because of that he can do what he likes, frankly.

Thanks all.
Arthur: yep, at some point he'll probably be sleeping for around 18 hours a day, and much as I'm not going to wish my life away I am looking forward to it ;-)
mooch: I almost cropped out the water, but thought, on the whole, that the context added to rather than detracted from the shot.
jesse: so do I, but this was taken from the beach ;-)
Tin: yes, I would, but I liked the colours in this one.
Ian: I'm not 'doing it by the backdoor', I'm using transparent gif overlays as part of the JavaScript navigation (most noticeable on the individual entry pages; i.e. the left half of the image takes you backwards, the right half, forwards). This was introduced when we redesigned chromasia in August. That said, not being able to save an image as a desktop was a consequence, not an aim, and the images in all the galleries were always available as desktops.
One thing I did realise though, following your "dissapointed" comment, is that I don't need to use the same navigation system on the index page; so I've removed it.
So, you can now set the latest image as a desktop and any of the gallery images, but not the ones on the individual entry pages.
And finally: JD is right, I don't need to claim copyright. Any photographic image or other work of art is, unless stated otherwise, owned by the artist and protected by copyright.

This is an amazing cloud formation, the size of which is incredible...as is your capture of it. Perfectly composed and the colors are serene and pleasant to the eye!
comment bymooch at 02:46 PM (GMT) on 5 November, 2006
Yes, I was just wondering how it would look were it framed and hung on a wall. I did think perhaps a slight bit more water could have helped for the context, maybe?

Its a great shot but one thing that annoys me about it is the fact that the midgound cloud has a part missing of the bottom left of it and therefore looks "incomplete"...
I was up doing a reconnaissance of Cleveleys beach on Friday late afternoon Dave and managed to take a few shots. (one is up on the blog now). I am more or less every Friday finishing work @ Lytham St Annes at 3pm and heading to an area of beach in the locality, like Blackpool, Lytham, Cleveleys etc..
If you have a spare late Friday afternoon going contact us if you are up for a meet up :)
p.s. Did you get them NDGrads?

The depth of clariy and deep color of the dark clouds are striking. That cloud is practically purple.

SysAgent: nope, didn't get the ND grads yet, but yes, I'll be in touch to arrange a meet up some time soon.
Thomas: I'll remember that next time I'm stuck for something to put up ;-)
wow, quite surreal. great capture of the clouds and sea. great hues too!
:-)
I almost didn't even see the water. This sky is amazing. Love it.
Great shot. It seems like the clouds are not able to bear their own weight and are falling down in the ocean
We do have some amazing skies in this country and this is a great example!
Excellent cloudy sky photo, the colors, framing, DOF, contrast.... shall I continue ? I love it.
