I spent some time in the Flamingo nightclub again today, and will be posting some more of the shots over the next few days. If you're interested, the ones I've shot previously are here.
As always, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

Dave, it looks like a place I still drink at in poole.... No seriously, lovely contrast and depth, I am especially drawn to the spaces where the mirror has cracked away.... nice elements in this frame... Big thumbs up

Nice cannon shell mark in the middle of the sign. Take care in deepest darkest Blackpool!

Like the way this one "fades out" at the edges.

Looks like a bit of a dive that place ;-)

I think the lost detail in the shadows would have benefited the image. Arguably a better focal point might have been on the inside, granted the sign is readable even when blurred.

It was a gay bar by the way....

a lot to look at here. i am very curious as to what your point of focus is, as mine changes each time i look at this image. that is neither a put down or a compliment, just an observation. david, what were you thinking here?

the mirror (?) is playing tricks on the location. I like that I can't figure out what the he?# is going on and what goes where. And who broke the mirror in the first place?

Very interesting shot. Looks like it would have been a great place to shoot.
Also, recently came across your blog. Really like your work. Also like how much technical info you give about the shot -- I like learning how people do things.

Great contrast and depth. All the elements an d tones are very nice. Well captured.

Very intriguing, initially I thought it was a shot through a plate glass windon to the interior but now from the comments I know it's a mirror. The diagonal positioning of the flamingo logo is very strong and the 'bullet hole' adds drama. It conveys the atmosphere of a derelict night club very well.

I really like the conversion and the composition with the white letters

My initial thought was also that it was shot through a glass door, looking inside. The contrast in the image is excellent. Quite an intriguing shot, plenty to look at, but interestingly it doesn't feel too busy. Nice.

That area is probably horrible, still the photo makes it all so attractive !

Very nice. The saturation is wonderful. Flamingo's seems like it was the place to be, in its time. Its striking what years of neglect can do. Great mood. I echo Mike B above. Its hard to tell what the focal point is. It seems to jump around, the result of which, for me anyway, is that I see something different everytime. Great affect, whether intentional or not :)

Did you hand hold the camera for this shot? Or tripod? Just wondering. Nice sharpness for a 15 second exposure.

Thanks everyone.
mikeb and Oko: the main point of focus, for me at least, is the logo as it contextualises the shot; i.e. it's identified as the Flamingo.
Eric: a tripod. My hands are reasonably steady but there's no way I could manage to hand-hold a shot like this for 15s ;-)
