You'll probably be pleased to hear that despite having quite a few more shots of dereliction and decay that I could put up, I'm going to try and shoot something different tomorrow, as I sense that you're all getting a bit bored with the current theme ;-)

I give €2 to charity if you put another photograph from the same theme tomorrow.
About this one : did you postprocess it emphasizing red colours? the carpet has an amazing colour.

How to alienate your audience in three easy steps. I am glad that we can look forward to something, perhaps, a little more 'Chromasia' well shot but beautiful.

I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I miss those shots you once posted that were breathtaking, purely in the aesthetic. Perhaps that isn't deep enough but, well, that's how I feel. I even miss HDR shots and I hated that fad.

So, will it be an amzing portrait tomorrow or a sweeping landscape? I am giddy with anticipation... sincerely.

amazing colours and details........

Looking forward to a return to form and the humour, emotion and beauty you normally capture. I cannot fault your current set for any technical aspects, or even for failing to capture the mood as they do capture the mood perfectly... however that mood is a a somewhat depressing one :o)

On a side note I was looking at some other photoblogs and its amazing how many of them copy your format. However there are very few who share so openly about how they achieved their results. You are a real inspiration, and have really helped both my technical and more importantly my 'seeing' skills.

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

I actually really liked this shot. And when my browser was loading it, it loaded in steps going down the page which worked very well on this photo and I thought was cool even if it wasn't intended.

Nice shot. I like the colour treatment here

i am not growing weary of the current series ... on the contrary. so be it if you move on, but do so when you are ready, not when the natives grow wrestless!

the color/contrast you chose on this photo is fantastic. it draws out the grime and grit in a wonderful way.

comment by jezblog.com at 02:41 AM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

Yeah........Come on guys....... its a great picture....... anyway give our artist some room to breathe.....Im enjoying this stuff...... sure it has more grit than the usual DJN material........ everyone has to deviate from their comfort zone or perceived style from time to time...... it's called being creative.......... weirdly Im going in the other direction having temporarily popped out of the big bad city...... so if you need some sky check out my latest post........... but do not click 'previous' otherwise you might think Id got you there under false pretense: http://www.jezblog.com/archives/2006/11/13/#000416%23more

How odd...interesting colouring on these. It doesnt say 'decay' to me...it says 'big mess'.

Now this one I like - best of the set.

I like this one a lot, the subject as well as the colors.

comment by Azz at 08:59 AM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

I love the colour palette of this shot. Beautiful.

I've enjoyed seeing this set of photos - it's always interesting to see how someone handles different styles and different ideas.

comment by Paul at 09:38 AM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

I like this a lot, great composition, good interest in the shot and the PP fits the subject perfectly.

comment by m at 12:25 PM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

I'm sure that the photos all have merit, but I'd put none on my walls and that is one of the aspects I use to judge a photo.

Blackpool looks like a right dump these days, you'd had us starting to think that it was better than it's reputation, then you show us these photo's!

comment by bryan at 04:05 PM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

At first glance, it appeared to be a kind of alter. The tones, contrast and arrangement of the objects. Interesting shot.

comment by Carole at 04:52 PM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

I actually like this seried-the color tone and depth and the varous textures are gorgeous. Can't wait for the tutorials to begin and gain some insight into the process involved in producing this kind of image.

Excellent image. I really like your work!

comment by Menon at 07:38 PM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

Looks rather false and 'over processed' in my opinion.

It would be interesting to see the original though.

comment by Psychodudu at 08:08 PM (GMT) on 14 November, 2006

I agree with some of the earlier comments that you should post what you feel you want to David. I'm reminded of the Monty Python sketch in Life of Brian, where the crowd urges Pontious Pilot to release Barabas "...wewease Bawabas!" there is only one reason why they want Bawabas weweased....
You are, without doubt, a source of inspiration for many, David. You produce fantastic images regularly and you share your knowledge freely, hence the thirst to see something new or different, from some corners.
I for one am happy with what I'm given, just keep 'em coming dude!
Oh yeah, and this image is quite simply one of the best in this series, it has much to show and suggests many storylines. Wonderful.

I love it! This is a very dynamic photo. So rich in colour and detail...leading up somewhere...
I agree with one of the comments above, this has been a very inspirational series; searching out the stories and subjects of an abandoned home. I might have a lead on a similar place for an inspired afternoon of photography...I'm looking forward.
