I went up to Fleetwood this afternoon and met up with Richard (www.oipixs.com) who's come over to the UK to visit his brother. We spent a hour or so strolling along the beach in less than pleasant weather, took various photographs, and ended the afternoon with a "frothy coffee" in the café on Rossal Point. It was a good afternoon. Well, socially it was good, but photographically speaking it was a bit of a wash-out and I didn't really get anything I was especially happy with. This one's the best of a bad bunch. Hopefully Richard had more luck than me.
On a related matter: I finish work at the University on Wednesday, so have a busy few days ahead, and as I currently don't have anything else to post I may not put anything up until later in the week. If I do get some time, I'll try and take something worth posting, but I'm not sure it's going to be possible. We'll see.

Really a fantastic pic!
I like the proportions and the motion sensation...
Maybe it is only a bit "green"! (But I know that if it is so green you just wanted as it is)!
Cheers

Nice tension between the kite and surfer. I like how the lines almost disappear, as if there something other than cables pulling between the two.

i love how you have neutralized the colours. i had a shot of the same subject put up a few days ago (http://photoimplosion.blogspot.com/2007/01/care-to-join.html from a photography perspective, its nothing. i love the colours though)

Great capture, but I'm not sure I like the color. Sometimes an overcast sky is tough to work with though.

i like it.
and i agree with paolo, it is a photogenic sport.
and i also have one here
Do you have problems with the colors on your photos depending on where you see them? When i see mine in safari they look just like when they were in photoshop or lightroom, but when i see it on a pc it's totally diferent, it's desaturated and darker. First i thought it was a problem with my screen, or maybe some diference between mac/pc... But then I downloaded the Firefox browser, and there they just look like when i see them on a pc. Terrible... I know it will have a difference on everycomputer, but it's happening on the same, and the diference is huge! Your photos look a bit different also, lot less. What color profile do you use? I don't know anymore what i can do... Really sorry to bother you with this question, but i'm kinda desperate to get this color problem fixed, or at least understand it
great capture and toning gives a great feel to it!!

Such a simple photo, yet so interesting. I like the framing you used for this shot.

You have once again shown us why you're a master of simplicity. Two concave curves convey so much strength, precision, and energy.

The kite is in almost the exact same spot and the rider also! Spooky! :)

This is a great image - the symmetry between kiteboarder and kite, the contrast between choppy sea and creamy sky. And since everybody else is doing it, I might as well show you mine, which I actually thought was kind of unusual when I posted it.

Thanks everyone (for your comments and links), and my apologies for the delay in responding, but it's been a hectic couple of days.
Photorama: yes, I do seem to have developed a habit of producing green photographs ;-)
Fabio: I convert mine to the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space before uploading them which is probably the best one for web graphics.
YETi: thanks, I fixed the link.
Paul: sorry about that ;-)
