I don't think this one is in quite the same league as under the north pier #1, but it's possibly on a par with under the north pier #2, and like both those shots this is an HDR produced with Photomatix Pro (and a lot of fiddling around with Photoshop).

I really like the textures here. With the proliferation of consumer digicams & horrible flash-blasted snapshots, there's really something to be said for a good black & white these days. (sorry, i work in a photo lab). This is refreshing!

I'm not sure if I like what's going on with blackpool tower fading into nothing, but otherwise a great shot.

Love it.

I think the textures and colours are great, but overall i don't particularly like the photo. I love the first one though.

Nice start to your new career. Good Luck.
I think I could spend a solid month under that pier monkeying around with a bag of lenses.
How does the old 17-40 perform on the 5D? At some point I would love to hear your impressions of the 5D vs the 20D. Other than wider angles I don't see a lot of difference in the quality of your shots from platform to platform. Do you?

Yet another great shot of the pier! There seems to be so much for the eye to look at with the criss-crossing of the stucture. I see hundreds of images eveyday as I too am a Photo Lab worker! So it's always good to get home from work in the morning and check out the mastery displayed here!

Very cool capture.. I almost get confused looking at the pier, but I mean this in a good way :-) I like the b/w, which fits the image I think. Makes me want to take a trip to the beach the coming weekend. Best regards!

I like this picture. Light is beautiful. It gives a very strange atmospher to the scene...

As you know I'm not normally a fan of HDR - however this is wonderful - I think B&W HDR looks less 'cheesy' (if you get my drift)!

Wow. I agree with the statement above about B&W HDR images being far more easy on the eye. I think this shot is brilliant. I has a sense of 'sci-fi film set' to it. I am very envious of your new career move, looking forward to seeing the new stuf, good luck!

Fantastic shot, I love the effect of the tower fading out in the background. Check out my blog, I'm a beginner, go easy on me!

Great tonality and I like the 2 shafts of light as the pier recedes.

Very cool shot.
I like the way the HDR-treatment brings out detail in the pier.
