Here's another of Finley, taken yesterday afternoon as we took a stroll around the woods at Beacon Fell. Moments before he'd been happily running ahead, but then he tripped and fell face down in a muddy hole. This was taken just as Libby helped him up. A few seconds later he was off on his way again, none the worse for wear.

Wonder where those muddy paws went - all over Mum's clean togs if he's anything like mine were!

You've caught the moment delightfully. Heck Finley might show some embarassment when you show him this when he's a teenager! But I guess you'll go on loving it yourselves.

I love the black background. I never would have guessed that this was taken out in the woods. All the focus is squarely the the munchkin's emotional state. A hint of the mud on the fingers/jacket to indicate a problem and an adult's hand showing a relationship. But... for this instant. It's all about him. Neat.

Interesting comments, I'd say. I adore this photo. Perfectly shot and just absolutely love that contrast and ratio. A beautiful boy, and a lovely portrait of motherhood and childhood - dare I say, boyhood :D.

This is great simply because it's such a snapshot moment, a moment later everything is different. When we're kids life is so much like a rollercoaster, up and down so fast!
