This is the last of my shots from the desert, and while it's nowhere near as striking as the previous two, I really like this one. On the day we went, it was quite windy, and there was a lot of sand and dust in the air. A consequence of this is that the light was really odd – bright, but extremely diffuse. On a dull day in the UK, the light can be quite flat and uniform, but nothing like the light I experienced in the desert. Here, it seemed to hang in the air, as though it came from everywhere at once. It made shooting the wider landscapes of the previous two shots quite difficult, but for this sort of close-up it was wonderful.

I see what you mean, it looks a bit like a studio shot.

Global social trends prevail: The ubiquitous plastic drink's bottle... this time a legacy from Pepsico I think... and it is also an example of the human habit of discarding unwanted items where ever they are standing... or is it jetsam from the Gulf?
A tight DOF ... (I 'll get that one in before anyone else does!) Hope I've got the technical jargon correct. I nearly got fooled into thinking you were back on Blackpool beach ... then I saw the label.
Cool shot man. The lighting sure does look studio-ish. The colors of the sand and sky are a bit unusual but they work so fine together.
Hmmm.... I think I'll go grab something to drink

Even on the other side of the world, you can't get away from the 'junk on a beach' shots, eh? ;)

hi, i like this one too! it's unreal, warm and delicious! I have a willingness to touch it. may I ask u about why u like to make shots of abandand things with an open background? I can't understand y, although I quite like this one.

Forgot to ask: how is it that it's sitting in the desert, yet the bottle doesn't have a grain of sand on it? It's so clean. Odd.
You must be in your element with this all that sand to photograph. Don't the write their "P's" funny!

Lovely image. Apart from everything mentioned above, I also like the infinite effect that the blur on the horizon creates.

As I observed when I went to the Sahara some years back; no-one can ever die of thirst in the desert these days - every few steps there's some bugger trying to sell you a Coke...

Definitely quality over quantity with these desert shots Dave, I've enjoyed them very much.
I really like how the Green contrasts the reddish brown sand color...lovely shot David
I love seeing bottles from other countries and languages and how major brands look. This is a really cool shot. Well captured.
功力不凡!
