Well, if yesterday's comments were anything to go by (in terms of quantity rather than quality), then I guess it's a good job that this is the last shot I'll be posting from my recent trip to Dubai ;-)

Tomorrow, and the day after, I'll be posting a couple of portraits: both of which I'm pleased with; neither of which are babies.

this is really lovely. i like the elegance of the coloring. plus, having the negeactive space be the focal point is really nice esp. when framed by the blood red tropical sunset. it has a real end of days feel to it. posting on Easter a coincidence?

Wow Dave... absolutely stunning. One of my all time favourite photos of yours. And in my opinion, keep the Dubai photos coming!

comment by Jennifer at 08:34 PM (GMT) on 8 April, 2007

Beautiful.

comment by djn1 at 08:41 PM (GMT) on 8 April, 2007

cy: yes, it's a coincidence.

Ash: that's in I'm afraid, I don't have any more that are worth posting, at least not in my opinion.

Jennifer: thanks.

Yes, I think the first comment says it all...absolutely elegant!

Saved the best to last. The other one I really liked was the goal posts, but that could have been Blackpool. This could too I s'pose (more tea!) But on the other hand maybe you don't get these colours in Blackpool. Oh maybe it's PS? Either way I really like it.

Uh. Wow.

Best of this series, hands down.

It is indeed lovely but to MY eye at least (if anyone's keeping score) that football net from a few days ago was your best of this Dubai series. Great to experiment with a different palette and feel but I found some of those experiments a bit toooooo lacking in contrast and definition.

Just my two cents, as our American descendants like to say...

This is such a beautiful one....loved the toning and composition...best of the Dubai series...and BTW I completely agree with Owen...

awe inspiring and majestic. i like that she is practically blacked out but you can still see some features of life. it is the life that peers out of the darkness in the toes and face. the distant boat and horizon give you the feeling of lonliness, especially with her head facing down. i love the patterns in the sky and how the clouds seem to radiate out of the back of her head.

needless to say, i like it a lot.

interesting silhouette and color....

Stunning in every way and it's so Dubai! Just intrigued if she was one of your students posing for you or a random beach visitor who you managed to creep upon with your telephoto? Really stunning shot and colours, however.... I do still very much LOVE your image of the couple sipping wine infront of one of Matt Hoyle's prints ;-)

comment by thomas mueller at 11:39 AM (GMT) on 9 April, 2007

stunning image and that's the way i like it. strong colours, perfect processing and moody.

comment by jcyrhs at 05:08 PM (GMT) on 9 April, 2007

I think this is one of your better works of late. Great choice on the shallow depth of field but any chance of removing that ship in the distance? it's distracting me from focusing on the main subject. =)

comment by Annika at 07:27 PM (GMT) on 9 April, 2007

I really, really love this one. Beautiful colours.

comment by krossi at 08:46 PM (GMT) on 9 April, 2007

wow, absolutely great!

comment by djn1 at 09:49 PM (GMT) on 9 April, 2007

Thanks everyone.

m: part reality, part PS.

jkm: it was one of my students, but she wasn't posing. And I liked the Matt Hoyle one too :)

jcyrhs: I like the boat :-)
