I met up with Russ from syspix.com the other day and we went up to Fleetwood to photograph the Wyre Wrecks. This is only shot that I'm really happy with, but I may post another tomorrow.

Very cool. Colors and textures provide a very interesting feel for this piece. I the the composition works well, too. I wish I had a bunch of wrecks to photograph.
very cool.

I've been away for twelve days and on my return get hit by this amazing encrustration. The image as it downloaded over a couple of seconds was eye opening. Great colours ... particularly the blues and pinks top left on the hulk

Great shot. It reminds me of the "lady of St Kilda" which you can see at my page. LOve the colours of the rust. Well done.

amazing. i know it is an old rusted out boat but it truly looks like a dead leaf. don't mistake me. i think it is beautiful. i love when nature reclaims manmade objects. there is someething about the intermixing movement to organic that is always intrguing. you have captured that really well.
plus, i am a sucker for things that seem scale-less. i have a love hte thing for the rope. with out it i am not sure you would know right off what it is.

From what botanical does this metalic leaf grow? Obviously, I'm with cy on this one. Love the contrasts you've set between the lighted fores and darker backgrounds, and vice versa. The details that snap to attention leaves a quite satisfied experience.

The angle you have chosen here makesit looks like a dry leaf. You have this ability of making everything look so magical.

Wow, that looks simply stunning.
Was that really captured at 12.24am?

gorgeous colours in this, I absolutely love it. It makes me think of finding buried treasure but it almost makes me want jewelry of the same colours... hehe.
Dave, I havent commented in a lon while, feeling a bit off my imaging making at the moment, but this shot may have just given me the shot in the arm required to get out there again, looking forward to the weekend up north, and a trip to these very same wrecks mste. I love the shot would like to see it as a 4ft print on my bathroom wall.

I'm stunned by the irony of this--a beautiful wreck.
Can hardly wait to see more. It's great work, David.

Wow, the wreck shapes like a leaf now. Really like the colors of the sky, just like many of your other images. I'd prefer the ship-shaped wreck better, though, personally.

I hope Russ kept his feet (and gear) dry this time. Good golden rust.

Yaaaaay! That's the stuff! Looks like a giant leaf from this low angle. Colours of the sky and the paint spot are deliciously well matched!

Thanks all.
JamesF: no, that was a typo ;-)
Craig: they're great to photograph so you should enjoy the trip.
E y e V i s i o n: no, it's not an HDR, but the sky is darker because I used a polarizer and the lower sections of the boat were lightened with a curve.
milou: he got a bit muddy, but other than that he survived ;-)

This is really a great shot. I love that the sky is the same color as some details of the ship wreck. Also the composition is great!

Nice picture, Dave. It's also a nice example of how a polarizer, used correctly, can jazz up a shot.
