I don't have a lot to say about this one other than yes, it was staged.

Nice one - great colours and out of focus background.

Back to "regular" Chromasia !
Very nice shot.

This is cute. Even if it's staged. Nice tones. Does the DOF real?

Nice choice of title.

Nice caption :) but definitely not one of your best

The colours are great as in most of your photos but the subject matter is frankly uninteresting. At least presented like this it isn't. If these angels were a lost toy in a city street that that street should be featured more. Otherwise this looks to me like a photo without a context.

Perhaps a daft thing to say, but it doesn't have a British feel to it, the colours and the street background remind me of Mexico. I would like to know how much of the bluring was captured in camera vs post processing? Whatever the subject, your colour shots have a distinct 'color profile', I wonder whether one day we will see a Chromasia plug-in a bit like the Alien Skin plug-ins? H'mm did you use the Digital Velvia FM plug-in on this, I'm very curious? Also one last question, could you point me to an example of your work that you used your soft focus lens on, do you like this lens? Thank you.

Fascinating colors! DoF is so nice! And I like the overall tone of the image. The empty street on the background adds a solitude-like feeling. Good work.

The color, the bokeh and the subjet are great

comment by Pere at 11:12 AM (GMT) on 26 May, 2007

I like the DoF of the background and the general tone of the image. It is a fantastic shot.

What amazes me once more is the very short shutter time you are using, 1/2000 feels like a very very short time. Out of curiosity: in which light conditions did you shoot this?

A fine work of art, once again!

comment by Angry Buddha at 01:21 PM (GMT) on 26 May, 2007

I like your perspective and the very narrow DOF.

comment by Ash at 04:42 PM (GMT) on 26 May, 2007

David, I agree with some who say it's a little contrived, and not one of your best. However, I do really love the post-processing, and I think that really helps make the photo something "more" :)

iso 100 with 1/2000 shutter speed.isnt that to fast for such a bright picture?

So small in a big world.

Absolutely beautiful depth and colour.

comment by freddy at 11:13 PM (GMT) on 26 May, 2007

I find that the photo is impeccable from the photographic point of view, but absolutely lacking in "emotions"

comment by Alice at 01:10 AM (GMT) on 27 May, 2007

I don't think there's anything at all wrong with a little staging to get a good shot sometimes. This is nicely done. Great dof.

comment by navin harish at 03:25 AM (GMT) on 27 May, 2007

Great colours, composition and DOF. Very nice

comment by Mohamadreza at 12:14 PM (GMT) on 27 May, 2007

To put it simply, PERFECT.

So, was wondering around the 'fotofestival in Naarden' and all of a sudden realized I knew the work hanging of that wall... photos by David J. Nightingale...fantastic!!! and lovely to bump into your work in a town so familiar to me.... congrats!

Thanks all.

E y e V i s i o n: yes, the DoF is real.

Ruben and jurek: yes, the shutter speed is correct.

freddy: you do have a point.

Aafke: glad you liked them. I wish I could have got over there.

This is good!

Gawds, Dave. Your lighting is reaching sublime status. You managed to create a real sense of 'ethereal ' in the scarily kitsch. It's bordering a (jarring) Twlight Zone thing.

Oh! I Love you, Love you both!
