Wow! Great work not sure how you avoided getting the person holding it and the lines into the picture (I assume it wasn't floating freely), it looks like a jellyfish floating above the seabed, the colors are also great with the shute colorful against the more muted background, amazing capture!

It looks incredibly good to me! I was up at South Shore today and didn't see this one amongst the others - I've had to upload an Octopus today instead :-)
This looks amazing! I like the highly saturated parachute(?) in contrast with the murky background. It looks quite surreal as no ropes are visible. Have you cloned them out?
comment bymarcello at 07:51 PM (GMT) on 28 May, 2007
from the thumbnail of vfxy I said, hey that's chromasia! and i was right!
E y e V i s i o n: the anchor point and the guy holding the rope are masked by the kite, so no, no cloning.
Kevin: this one uses three basic masks: one for the kite, one for the foreground, and one for the sky. The latter two are blended into one another.
comment bymiChou at 09:50 PM (GMT) on 28 May, 2007
Plain amazing!
Now I realize why you did say that the picture from yesterday was "the least favourite" :)
Thanks for giving me a reason to smile ~every day :)

I really like this one. I find it much more appealing than the other two you mentioned. I prefer the composition in this one for one and somehow the processing is more striking to me as well. vey nicely done!

I think the somewhat surreal darkness on the blue and flat tan sand make a great balance to the spring-fresh kite colors.

my favourite one is SG-Blackpool. I think the contrast between the colours and the background was really emotional in that picture.
but this one too is wonderful!

DJN, of the three, you newest one is my favorite. I thought the first one was remarkable, but the new one is more striking. The shadow on the sand makes the image more balanced and interesting than the first two.
I wonder what it is about this incredibly rich eye food that is so appealing to our visual cortex? SG-Blackpool particularly, but this as well, satisfies some craving or other and is a pleasure to look at. Someone has already mentioned that the image structure and colouring is 'emotional' - and it's true.
comment byRonald at 10:23 AM (GMT) on 29 May, 2007
Sufficiently striking indeed!
This one certainly has the "WOW-factor"!
SG-Blackpool#3...yes my friend, the title is correctly chosen... keep on going, love to see a series growing out of this.
I like this. The sky, the vivid colours. Very striking. I also like the fact that you cannot see any of the lines that connect to it. Gives an almost surreal edge to the image.
Wonderful colours, I like this symmetry and the contrast to the background.
comment bySteve Tainton at 10:04 PM (GMT) on 29 May, 2007
I love the strong saturated colours of the Kite against the muted almost monotone background, well seen and pihotographed with a cracking off centre composition. David you are inspiring and I visit the blog daily with eager anticipation.

So much for my "photographic memory." While I thought this to be a very nice shot, it didn't match my memory of your original kite shot. Then when I looked again at the original, I decided I really liked this one too, for different reasons. The sharpness and balance that you've achieved with your masks make it an outstanding capture. I really like the abscence of controller and strings (nearly invisible), and how it "floats" in the air, like a jellyfish in water. The light is heavenly (literally). My biggest reservation is how the sky is split because of the light cloud on the left and the way the cloud edge intersects the kite. What? Nature actually does treat you occasionally the way it treats the rest of us? :-)

An amazing shot. The sky and sea appear to be subtly toned, and with the amazingly saturated colours of kite? it would 'make one' for my wall.
I just love it. The positioning too is spot on. Fantastic.
It's a wonderful image ... the colours are great ... a awesome rendering !

The colours in the chute are brilliantly vivid and I love the sky. A great mood, quite mystical I'd say. 10/10

David,
Clearly my favourite of the 3 is this one. More for the vibrance and the thought provoking it involves wondering what is holding it there.
Fantastic

This shot just inspired me to grab my camera and get out shooting, the highest compliment I know how to give.
Simply another jaw dropping shot, great PP as well.
What a beautiful special study of color and simple graphical elements! I was wondering if you would be interested in being represented in the artsproject onexposure.net? Maybe you have heard of it, it's a collection of selected high quality photos from all around the world. Your work would be a great inspiration to members and the thousands of peole that vists the site every month! If you are interested drop an email and let me know. We can select a few photos from your blog and publish so you don't have to do anything. Yours in photography, Ralf

Very beautiful, I prefer this one !
An absolutely gorgeous shot. I love the bright, brilliant, saturated colors against the dark threatening sky.
I am curious as to how you manage to isolate just the kite and make its color pop while leaving the rest of the photo slightly desaturated.
Wonderfully done. :-)
Amazing work here. I think this one is in the same league as the others.
To be quite honest with you, I never got the whole hype around the first two shots you mention. I like this a lot better. Nice work.
Crystal sharp, wonderful colors. I think this one deserves to share it's name with the previous two. Nice work!
very nice =)
am anxious to hear the answers to kevin and eye vision's questions hehe
wow, those colors are so vibrant.
Thanks :-)

True not as good as the original SG, but I like better than number two so I think a worthy member of the SG stable.
Amazing, AGAIN!

I love this one! Fantastic colors and the absense of anything else in the frame gives it an almost surreal quality. Nicely done!
I think this one is in the same league, definitely. The strong vibrant colours against the sky work wonders. It's so crisp and clear.
