By popular request, here's one of Milly's shots from yesterday. She agreed with the crop, and the B&W conversion, but didn't like the added grain/noise. The version she preferred, which is very close to the original image, is here:
The crop/composition is excellent, so well done Milly. I also prefer the grainier one - it is more evocative.

I'll go with Camilla on this one - I think the added grain is an acquired taste, and doesn't add anything to the shot, for me at least. Nice to see though, that she's picking up some pointers from her dad; I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the world as she sees it, from time-to-time.

Most definitely should have been Camilla's personal choice and also her own pp ideas... after all if you are putting her images up then they should be as seen through an 11yr olds eyes and mind .... and we don't want two Nightingales producing images from the actions of one mind ....

Have to go with Milly on this one, the added noise isn't to my taste, maybe if it wasn't so strong. But a great shot, well composed. You are going to need another photoblog you know...
I have to agree with Milly... I prefer the cleaner version, at least for this shot.
By the way, I tested out the colour profile you mentioned the other day rather than Adobe 98, and the colours in Firefox are much, much better. Thank you!

I like Camilla's version better. As said above, in this shot the grain makes me feel like it was grabbed from and old movie.
not sure weather I prefer noise or not... digital noise always seems to put me off but I can certainly see where your coming from with adding it!
The image definitely has an aged feel to it, possibly some sort of pinhole experimentation or something? and with the noise it does make it feel like faster film
This is exceptional in both versions. I'm going ack and worth and can't decide. I like the pure white sash in the background without the noise a lot, but I also like grainy b&w. Great work on all counts.

I'm sure she'd be delighted if her version ended up being the preferred one ;-)

I think it is better with the noise. Reminds me one of those famous Robert Capa shots from Normandy. Well, without machine guns fortunately. :)
Great shot Camilla - I like both versions. You perhaps need to be of an age that remembers early 60's b&w tv to appreciate the grain ;-)
I go with Milly's choice, it's much better. With the grain added it's a bit like a capture from an old cine film. Move over Dave :-)
In much agreement with it being reminiscent of the Normandy landings - this is almost an entrenched shot! Excellent stuff (and I like the grain :D )
I do not know what of it tasks you, but I believe that... good blood not mind: -)

Personally, I prefer the un-noisy one, but that's my general preference for photos that haven't been heavily edited coming through again.
'tis a nice shot, though - always good to see a new voice coming through!
