As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I've been away on a commission for the Bahamas' Ministry of Tourism, which was a wonderful experience. The various shoots took place in and around Nassau, which is an incredibly beautiful and rather hot island ... at least it seemed very hot after the summer we've been having in the UK.
To start things off, this one was taken during a boat trip. It was shot from the floor of the boat, with the rear door open, and you can just make out Nassau in the distance. I'll be posting more shots in the next few days.
And finally, thanks for all your comments on the four "back soon" shots that were posted while I was away. They were much appreciated.

Nice. Love the "prongs" formed by the waves.

Stunning black and white, with some great processing. Only with the black theme can you see how you've held some detail in that darkened sea. This one would be a challenge to print I imagine.
On the day I post my first ever picture of Blackpool you go and feature Nassau - it's just impossible to keep up ;-)

In my opinion a little bit too dark.
But I realy like the clouds!

Really is rather fab!

Sounds like a nightmare of a commission :)

Wow.. i would have thought the cloudy skies would have looked great in blue, but this B&W definitely does the trick! Nice shot, looking forward to the other pictures

The processing has really enhanced the graphic nature of the waves. I like the big splash in the middle too.

Ooof! Thats a really fine image you have here!
Love the postprocessing on this one..
The action of the splashing water, the dark but detailed clouds...
This looks like an evening shot , but 4:32 pm is not that late...I see lights on the shore is that correct?...Ah..maybe you did not adjust your inmenu cameratime??
BTW, how did you cope...being away from the european drizzle-summer;-)
comment byRonald at 05:09 PM (GMT) on 1 September, 2007
I must apologise...I did not read the exif good enough...
The shutterspeed and ISO do not indicate an eveningshot...makes it an even more intruiging shot!

Thanks all.
Roy: :-)
Dave K: yep, it was a bit of a struggle ;-)
Ronald: I darkened this one quite a lot as I wanted to bring out the detail in the water in the foreground. And I managed to cope with the absence of drizzle, though it was over 90 degrees most days - which was a bit hot :-)

Work.....in the Bahamas.....you have my sympathy! The contrast between the milky clouds and the frozen, sharp water is what struck me in this shot. Nicely done.
