I do have a couple of shots of Fiona that I'll put up at some point, but in the meanwhile I thought it was about time for a change. This one was taken during a boat trip around Nassau and I couldn't hear the conversation, but it looks as though it was probably something to do with the size of a fish :-)

Only thing I dont like is the fishing rod (?) that seems to grow out of the head from the person in the middle.
But Butifull coloures and nice lightning.

Tina: this was a chartered fishing boat and Ryan (the guy in the centre) is sitting in a fighting chair with a central mount for the rod; i.e. there was nowhere else for it to go. Besides which, it's a photograph about fishing, so the rod is somewhat integral to the composition ;-)

Aha!! Now THIS I like Dave! :) Great framing, great colour....just an all round good feel to it (I didn't want to overuse the word 'great' ;)...)
Quality. You know...I think there might just be hope for you yet ;)

Yeh ... when the lads get together the fishy stories get more exaggerated. I bet by the time Ryan had caught his first fish the size of the fish in the yarn had doubled. Think I prefer fishing for mackeral from some quiet quay in Southern Ireland (such memories). At least I had no chance of getting sunburnt. Good symmetry to the image and rich colours.

I love this picture. the colors are very vibrant and alive. I can almost feel the boat moving. I love the title, very clever. ha! And though this picture is rather symmetrical, I really like it. I also like with with a white background better than the dark.

David, cool image, but pleeeeaaase tell me you got to fish a little too :)

you'd captured the right moment very well and i like the framing of the water and the sky. cool composition!

Loving the light on the sea towards the right, also the clarity, the colour and the obvious fib by the bloke on the left ;-)

Beautifull image. The sky is blue, the water is blue, and the boat is white. As it should be!

Excellent!

You have an awful job, don't you?

it doesn't look like it's growing out of his head to me...

You can just notice the flash, but there's no harsh shadows from it.... nice work.

The vibrance of the colours in your art never seizes to amaze me. Love it.

I like the perfect layout and the intensive colours. The guy in the middle reminds me a bit of a dentist only that most fish donĀ“t have teeth.

Ah, the memories. I always hated fishing, but loved going out on the boats. Wonderful capture here, Dave.

this pic deserves a soundtrack to go along with it! maybe a little jimmy buffet

comment by peter at 07:12 AM (GMT) on 8 September, 2007

This one pops right out of the monitor. I like the vibrant colours and the wake of the boat has created some really nice lines that help balance the picture very well. I want to be there too...

Is the 580 on-camera or remote? Direct or bounced? Lighting is very good here and I know that aint all natural so would love to hear more about how you did it. It's one thing you can't tell from the exif data and you seldom talk much about the controllable light sources in the text on here.

comment by li at 12:54 AM (GMT) on 9 September, 2007

wow, I cant remember when did you post a photo with real world tone last time, but this one looks awesome. as was mentioned by other poster early, the rod in the middle do look a little weird, but it didnt degrade the photo too much. hope to see more of your photos with real world rendering
