This is the second shot of Fiona that I mentioned yesterday, the one that Libby thinks is much better than yesterday's effort ... I remain unconvinced ;-)
Oh, and I do have another couple of shots of Fiona that I may put up, both of which are more akin to yesterday's than today's.

I agree with Libby. Maybe the dof is a bit too shallow, at least the closer part of the sunglass should be sharp.

Very cool, but I'd prefer just a little more DOF too - trouble is when you have fast glass you just wanna play!

that 1.4 is amazing david! I love this!!
best one out of the series so far IMO.
looks amazing on white background too

I like the DOF, got my fingers itching to get one of those 1.4 lenses...

I too prefer this one. It doesn't matter why it's subjective. ;-)

I like it. Would be a great DKNY magazine ad.

wht kinda lighting did u use here..its absolutely fantastic

I like the DOF here, however to some people might be too blurred. As abstract shot it could do well.
comment byRob at 12:04 AM (GMT) on 11 September, 2007
I like this, but I'm not sure there is enough of a focal point here to work exceptionally well. I like narrow DOF images so that is not what is bothering me - I think the sunglasses play too prominent a role here. I liked yesterdays, except for the eye treatment.
comment byKeith De-Lin at 03:22 AM (GMT) on 11 September, 2007
very cool shot.
comment byRichard H at 04:33 AM (GMT) on 11 September, 2007
Now that's some shallow DOF. I really like this shot. It's funny how there's a lot of fuzzy out of focus detail that captures a lot of your attention.
Well captured in your typical amazing style.

Mh, can't say which one is better, cause these are two complete different pictures.
But I like this one very much too.
Great tones!

I definitely prefer the one from yesterday, it has a glow to it that is lacking in this shot. Good job anyway.
comment bymooch at 01:09 PM (GMT) on 11 September, 2007
Yesterdays was more classic. This for me lacks depth of field but typically looks good in the thumbnail.
comment byAsh at 02:07 PM (GMT) on 11 September, 2007
You know, I do think the DOF is too shallow, and while her hair is (slightly) in focus it's not clear enough to be a good focal point. I actually like the tiny thumbnail at the top of this comments box more than the large photo itself. A slightly deeper DOF may have made a difference.

I agree with eyevision, who agrees with Libby. I likke yesterday's picture but prefer today's.
Very beautyful composition... great render and treatment !

Very interesting use of selective focus. I like how it breaks conventional rules of photography (i.e. focus on the eyes or suffer a terrible death). This image proves to me that some rules should be broken.

Like this a lot.

Thanks all. As for the DoF: I can see why some of you think it should be deeper, but I don't think it would have worked quite so well that way.

Definetly in your camp Dave!
Libby is in the wrong corner this time;-)

I agree with Libby. I think this is an awesome shot. I really like the DOF and the b/w. Very nicely done.

I'll have to side with Libby on this one... though I like the series you did with Fiona, I really like this totally different take on a portrait. Probably not what the tourism board is looking for, granted, but really appealing to (my) eye.

I'm with you David. I like yesterday's picture just that bit more! Today's one isn't too bad either ;-)
IMO, the depth of field is too distracting. My eye can't find anything to rest on.
