I'm now back home from my trip to Germany and will write more about it after I've caught up on my sleep, but in the meanwhile here's the first of two shots of Ralph, an extremely photogenic apprentice at the Van Volxem winery. Tomorrow's shot is considerably more striking, but I really liked his expression in this one.

Yes, an expressive portrait of a fellow who appears to be a lot of fun. I like the contrast of his red sweatshirt and reddish lips against an otherwise grayish/brownish, desaturated background.
Now that is some hairdo!, I wonder what he looks like first thing in the morning.... that 24-70mm is one flexible beast, and a real workhorse of a lens. Nice shot Dave.
P.S Nice to have you back.

1/15 @ 70mm thats pretty steady!
how come you didn't drop to f2.8 or up the ISO just to make sure you got it??? are you that confident, or not happy with higher iso results or think the lens is soft at 2.8 or am I talking poop?

hmmmmm. nice image, but i guess i'm not at all inspired by it. there are a lot of very nice looking photos of people posted on the net.
Bonsoir,
Nice shot..Good tones..Bravo!
Thanks everyone.
JD: I'm not especially happy with using an ISO faster than 400 (too much noise) and didn't want to shoot wide open, so this was the compromise.
g: I thought this was worth putting up for his expression.
Excellent :))
