I have two more shots from my trip to Germany that I'll put up, but I thought I'd post this one first. It was taken this morning and is a view of Blackpool's South Pier taken from Central Pier.

You may remember this view from this shot.

This is brilliant, the light is perfect!

This is what a "typical" chromasia picture looks like.
Perfect! I realy like it!

This is one of your best shots. Great clear shot. How did you do that?

comment by nferreira at 08:06 PM (GMT) on 17 October, 2007

Despite the fact that I prefer the tonalities of the other photo, I think the composition is more visually pleasant in this one. Maybe it's also because of the size of the image.

Dave, I was lucky enough to be with you today when you took this shot, and i think your post processing skills are fantastic! (nothing you didn't already know ;)

Beautiful and simple. Great shot.

That is a great shot. The sky and the sunlight reflecting on the sea look amazing.
I really like the large-size photos BTW.

Beautiful !

haven't been here in a few days... I'm one that likes technology behind things and i notice that chromasia is now resolution-aware? (ie: displaying larger photos on larger resolutions)... didn't scan back in history to see if this was officially announced, but it's kinda neat. I see that the piece of javascript that does this is just slapped into the middle of nowhere.. I'm not sure how movabletype works but dave.. do you copy and paste that code day by day? .. I mean I realize that you being a celebrity these days and all could care less about this but if you just create a simple javascript function that you just pass an image name to as a parameter, and store 99% of the redundant code inside the function, you'll be saving yourself lots of copy and pasting :)

...carry on. this message will self destruct in 5 seconds.

Wonderful :-)

Hi Dave - I notice your last 3 shots have been taken with your 5D, not the 1Ds Mk II - Was this due to any fault with the 1Ds? Or simply due to you carrying both cameras around with you [assuming that is what you do?]

Super Dupa, back to the 'old skool' Chromasia.... YOu've stolen my sky again, I want it back, else I'm coming up there to get it.... ;-)

I have been following your blog for some time and this is the first comment from me. I think your work is really excellent especially when the scenes are as this one. I'm not an expert I just know what I like

Great alternative shot of the same location. I wonder if it is the same man walking along the beach ?

The clouds make it look nice and sunny, the moody makes it feel dark and miserable.

that's a stunner. mal

I really do like the dramatic sky. Lovely.

I spoke to Libby re: Focal Press titles. Yet to hear from you though. I take it they're of no interest?

What an epic shot. Love the blue tones and the massive distances.

comment by rhys at 05:12 PM (GMT) on 18 October, 2007

cool shot, moody and beautiful. I like the little lone man by the sea (with a dog?).
PS spent a while today reading your Baby Photography book in Newcastle Waterstones- looks very good.

Sharp image, well done!

Thanks all.

osenoa: thanks for the heads-up about the rather clumsy coding, and thanks for the follow-up emails - I'll tidy up the code over the weekend.

phil: I often use both cameras, so it's just a coincidence that the last three were shot with the 5D.

mooch: I'll email you about the books.

Wonderful light and dramatic sky. Really well done!

comment by Photo Buffet at 09:56 PM (GMT) on 19 October, 2007

Ominous! The scale of the single person walking under that threatening cloud cover is great--really drew my attention there immediately.

Big skies, water and moody mono. What else do you need?

Great image, classic chromasia.
