I spent today photographing the wedding of Kate and Thomas , and had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I don't photograph many weddings, but when I do, it's always a pleasure.
As for this one: it was taken towards the end of the event and is a shot of Kate with a cup of coffee at the end of the meal.

Beautiful.

A serene moment. I like the mood present in this composition and the b&w tone was an excellent choice. Despite the fact that the cup and hands are in focus, her smile caught my attention immediately.

Perfect balance between sharpness and blurriness. The bokeh is buttery and the focal point is sharp without looking unnatural and processed. Preemo.

Composition-wise, very serene. I feel that the dark band on the cup could be lightened a bit.
comment by Sharla at 04:43 PM (GMT) on 28 October, 2007
Perfect and so natural looking. Love the greys and the range and balance of the composition. For so few elements, there is tremendous entertainment for the eye.
And I want those nails!

Thanks all.
Seairth: you may well be right, but I quite like it as it is.

if you described this image in words, it could sound something like this 'black and white pic of a woman (bride) holding cup of coffee, her hands in focus, her face a blur with the top of her head chopped off' - sounds crap right? but look at the pic and it's a whole different story, it's brilliant. It's having the thought to take the shot in the first place that sets you apart from a lesser photographer, great work Dave, and after the previous blog pic (which i wasn't impressed with) it's such a pleasure to see this :)

Handheld or tripod? Just wondering if the IS actually works that well?
