I haven't really said much about the wedding photography that I do so thought I'd say a few words about it today. First of all, I don't shoot many weddings – one every few months or so – and for me, that's ideal. Weddings are celebrations, but even with the best will in the world I don't think I could be enthusiastic about photographing them if I was doing one each weekend – it would be take all the fun out of it. At the moment, I can go along and enjoy the event with everyone else, come home, do the post-processing, then get on with something else. When another one comes along it's enjoyable again because I can get caught up in the moment rather than thinking "here we go again". I probably could have put that better, but I guess you get the idea.
As for this one: I've gone for a fairly muted feel, both in terms of contrast and colour, and as always, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

i really enjoy the muted tones in this one. for me it gives a more classic feel (especially with the older car). I feel like the classic chromasia vignetting might make it a bit more dramatic, but I realize completely understand why you probably chose not to go that route with this image.

I think that possibly people who have some knowledge of photography will like your wedding images most. I am sure you have not shared the more intimate photos with us but so far there is great photographic quality and they are obviously so much better than those photographers that rely on a group of men throwing hats in the air. The framing of the bride and the exellent exposure that would so easily have had blown highlights, along with the details of the well prepared car make this a delight. I assume the pale skin tones are representative of the subject. Timeless and delightful.

des bulles de bonheur. Je trouve le traitement un peu triste

As ever I really love the filmic look that you've captured - the perfect drop off in focus throughout the depth of the image is what strikes me, and for some reason the lighting and colouring on the door on the right really appeals. Feels very British.

This just exudes pure joy. If I had to use one word to describe this photo it would be..........classy.

Beautiful, the muted tones are perfect for the setting and will still look good when they are celebrating their silver wedding, unlike a modern popped treatment. Might be tempted when my 'assistant' has finished her course! You helped her to a distinction on that assignment :-)

I don't really enjoy your wedding photos, David! I've seen you do more exciting and interesting things, much more interesting things! And from the tone on this photo I'm not really convinced that this is a celebration. More like... I know this is different from all the "wows" and "ohs" you get in the comments, but I wanted to be honest.

Cool shot! It's a really spontaneous one, which I think is really important if you want to remember such a beautful and important day. Very nice, really.

Alex: not all photos have to be OOOH! or WOW! Photos of events like this are primarily, for me at least, to remember things by. When I went through loads of photos of last Christmas the other day, looking for one of me and my girlfriend, I was far more interested in remembering the happy faces and the moments than I was in the incredible framing or processing. Different strokes for different folks/occasions... ;)

Nice shot.
I photographed my first wedding recently, which went really well. But I found post-processing 300 photos a bit of a challenge ( even at 5 mins per picture, this seemed to takes ages ). Do you have any tips, or does it just take a long time ?
