First of all, thanks for all the great comments on yesterday's shot. It was good to finally find the time to produce something worth posting, but even better to hear it was well liked.
As for this one: it's been a while since I posted a keep out shot. I've been keeping an eye out for them, but there's only so much you can do with a series of old number plates on chains, so I haven't managed to get too many that I'm happy with this year. This one though, I like: mostly because of the upside down sign, and the hook hanging in mid-air, but also because it works well with the rest of the scene ;– i.e. it reads like a commentary on Blackpool in the wintertime ;-)

This surely is a great shot, imho. I like it because my eye wants to focus on the beach and the pier on the right. But then the sign is pulling my eye all the time. Nice work me thinks.....

Not so much a Bresson "decisive moment" - as it is a very well seen moment to capture. I'm liking the return to your best work. I'd happily hang this up and be happy with it..... looks very cold up North!....tonally this shot is spot on for me.

an early winter shot...
but well composed! I like the way the sign is leading me into the picture, even if it says "keep out"

Nice shot. I am going to send a link to it to my step brother, for his birthday on Thursday.
When we were teenagers he (and my sister) worked on Beach Patrol in Blackpool, even in the Winter. It really sums up what it was like at times, especially people ignoring the signs.

I'm fond of the Keep Out pics and this is a great one. Someone not familiar with your series might look at this one and get a nice story from it. It looks like the man with his dog has removed the sign so they could trespass to the beach.

I like the contrasting messages in this shot: "keep out" but the person (and a dog?) are there anyway. Nicely done in b/w too. Keep up the great work.

I've never been to Blackpool, but man I love the place ;-)

Nice shot. Great persective, The board seems to be quite new. The man in the center of the picture seems like hitch-hiking.

I really love this one. Is that snow?
I'm from Florida and I've never seen snow but I just moved up to New York City so I'm hoping to venture out to the coast to witness snow on the beach. I think that would be pretty crazy...

You have a real thing for this sign (or I presume, these signs). I like the tones to this. Is it a duotone? It's not quite black is it...

What a stunning image! I am finding it hard to get out at the moment to shoot any new material, this has given me a kick up the bum to get a move on! An inspiring shot. Cheers.

Its sooo frustrating to live here, pass these things everyday, and not get the picture. Yes your processing is good, but you have to be able to find the picture in the first place, which you do magnificently.

Another gem of a shot, one that is full of narrative, this and the last have been some of the best you have posted for a significant time. I do envy your proximity to this veritable treasure trove of images....

Thanks all.
Craig: yep, it's getting a bit chilly.
Sharla: only two of them don't get picked up by that link, but I take your point :-)
Michael: no, it's sand, but I've processed it to look a little lighter than normal.
mooch: it's toned with a Curve with more yellow in the highlights.
shockers: I was lucky with this one as it's the sign that makes the shot.
shooter: yes, it's a great place for photography.

On my brief visit to this beach earlier in the year I passed one of the DJN 'Keep Out' signs and had to resist the urge to breach your copyright and photograph it ;-)
This is very nice; the intriguing depth of field is admirable and looks almost like a view camera has been used with lens swing.

How come this is f/4 ?! The background in focus suggests it is more towards /9 or /11
(or a com-po-si-te, shush, shush :)

Henri Cartier-Bresson would be proud.

Your search link was a nice recap of the series but I didn't see the original or this one or this one.
(I said I was fond the series!)
