I had hoped to get out today but what with one thing and another it didn't happen, so here's one taken on a trip to St. Annes a couple of months ago. It was taken approximately 90° to the right of this one this one, and while the end result isn't quite as striking, I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

Very nice, I like the way that the 'focus' of the image (the cross) is actually out of focus.
Photography for airports?

Rhys: the 'photography for airports' project is one I should resurrect. In the meanwhile I've added this one to that category.

I actually enjoy the image you posted today moreso than the previous one you find more 'striking.'
Something about that lone yellow figure breaking up the scene is really nice. I really love minimalist pictures though. The sky is very nice, although I do wish the photo did not get as dark as it does on the left and right sides.

Nice photo. Some times " simply " is the best option

I find this image a little soft, but striking nonetheless. I do prefer that other one though :)

this is a funny contrast to the dark sky! and this november weather anyway.

Sorry - I don't like this one, but I'm sure you can understand why when we're comparing to your usual standard.
The vignette hasn't been able to rescuce the fairly featureless sky, and it is all a little flat to me - definitely a background image for something rather than the main event. I like the yellow post, but would have preferred it to be larger (ie: nearer) - probably twice the size.
Or perhaps it's just that the section of sky above the sea is so overcast and featureless that it drags the image down? It's neither dark and dramatic or light and full of bright pastel hues.
(But then I would say all this when I love your more striking images - this one's a shock to the system!).

Thanks everyone.
Alex: I can see what you mean – this wasn't one of my best efforts – but I disagree about the sky.
