I went up to Fleetwood this afternoon, armed with my ND filters, as I wanted to try some reasonably long exposures at high tide. A lot of the shots I took didn't work out – mostly because it's difficult to judge how the waves will look with exposures of more than a second or two – but I got three, maybe four, that I'm happy with.
The other two are more dramatic than this one, but I like the softness of this one.
I like the softness too. What's the function of the little structure in the water?

Nice, Dave. The colours and the softness give the feeling of it being an oil painting.

I would like it more if the colours were a little more intense. However, I do like it. The softness is great.

Riccardo: it's a warning light, in the channel.
Ryan: I tried a more saturated version, but decided I preferred this one.
Craig: no, no coffee today, I was at the other end of the beach.

I know it well, a wonderful place just brimming with opportunities, this is a lovely composition, particularly like the soft pastel tones....

Like this one alot. Love the soft tones, the only thing is the slight blueish patch in the centre of the clouds keeps drawing my eye to it

Hi Dave.. I agree with Thatch about the blue tone top centre but I can only assume it is a by product of the actual light at the time and the toning process. If it was a pure B&W conversion I doubt it would have the same water colour feel to it but you would loose the strange colour tone. This shot looks like a painting, still a stunning image all the same.

Beautiful...have to agree, I love the softness of this photo as well.

Thanks everyone.
As for the 'distracting' patch of blue: I decided to leave this in as I thought it added to the painterly feel, but I can see why some of you found it distracting.

Thanks Thatch - now all I can see is a blue dot!
I like the softness of this one as well.
I assume you contemplated removing the structure? Did you leave it in to identify the place and link it to the other shot? Or for a sense of scale?

This is really beautiful....love the icy effect the long exp gives the waves.
