While most of the shots I took in Dubai were architecturally oriented, I did manage to get some people shots that I was pleased with, and of the three that I'm going to put up I think this is probably my second favourite. It was taken down at Al Seef, just before the sun dipped below the buildings in the background.
On a totally unrelated matter: I'm pleased to say that I've just finished my latest HDR tutorial. If you're interested you can read more about it on our main tutorials page.

I like this - it's generally a nice moment (but feels still a tiny bit dark) but then I saw the sun in the horizon and that really makes it a bit special.
Wonderful shot. And the sun on the left side really adds a nice touch.

Yes it does look a bit dark but then my screen is lousy, the Mac is at the hospital :-( The sun is definitely a nice touch and the lines draw you to it.

It's funny this picture because I think that's about the right colour for the sky in Dubai 80% of the year... It's not easy to take photos outside throughout the Dubai summer.
I have the same lens with the 40D and i'm fairly sure that I could not get 1/100 at AP f5.6 at ISO 100. Was this scene brighter than what appears here and then some photoshop magic done afterwards or the 1DSmk2 remarkably more sensitive than the 40D?

I really love this shot.
i find the head almost touching the horizon line a little awkward, and it could be a touch lighter... apart from that i am liking.
An Indian woman.
For me this is my favourite of your Dubai shots

Thanks all.
As for it being too dark: it looks ok on my monitor, but I take your point.
Did you use a tripod or monopod for this shot?
Aris: this one was hand-held.

Aris: yes, it was quite a bit brighter than it appears. I wanted to catch the feeling of the moment rather a more literal portrayal.
