Despite the fact that yesterday was the longest day of the year the weather has been quite atrocious, and when we took the kids down to the sea-front this afternoon it was all we could do to stop them blowing away. Harmony (who's now five) just about managed to stay on her feet, but if I hadn't had hold of Finley he would have been blown over on several occasions.

As for this shot: it's a view you've probably seen before on chromasia, and while I'm normally quite happy to suffer for my art, today was not one for hanging about taking photographs :-)

Like the pink tint - at least I hope it's pink and not my screen on the blink! Looks like your enjoying the lightweight G9, but it sounds as though you should have let Finley carry your1 DsII :-)

Probably you feel hard and heavy to carry your "big gun stuff" with you? Don't forget that the 1D would be good to weight down the kids in heavy wind too. :)
Otherwise this compact has quite nice image quallity at least in this resolution.

Thanks profusely for putting yourself and your children at risk to make pictures for our enjoyment!

Love the way you made summer into winter landscape. Very dramatic and poetic. Well done!

Really nice shot. The tones seem soft and peaceful yet the water and sky seem turbulent. Very nice work.

This one really has a wonderful wildness to it with the waves crashing against the pier!

comment by Tom at 10:15 PM (GMT) on 23 June, 2008

It's really not calm;-) Like it.
Someone mentioned pink tone and when I look on this one on some old LCD at work, well it was:-) Now at home it's different and more to yellow - the feel is better:-)

Strangely for me this one looks particularily wintery. Maybe its the b+w or the colour of the sky but it certainly does not feel like summer.

As an aside, nice to see the G9 continuing to make appearances.

Love the muted tones and vintage look. The wide aspect ratio really works with the composition too.

wow, this looks like summer.... :)))

Nice enough shot and I am certainly impressed with the G9. But what has got me curious is the blog and the various tones people are seeing?! I too like Tom see the 'yellow' (sepia albeit mild) tones. Cannot imagine magenta will add to this shot.

Always a pleasure to see how even relatively inexpensive cameras can produce great photos in the hands of people with skill and vision!

Here's a tip for everyone using Firefox 3.. It now supports colour management, but it is off by default, so to turn it on go to this page..

Thanks all, and it's definitely yellow not pink :-)

Very dramatic shot. I think it gives me a kind of late 50's feeling (and I like it!)
