This is the second HDR image from Barcelona that I mentioned yesterday. This one was also processed with Photomatix Pro using the Details Enhancer method, but in this case it was created from a single initial exposure rather than a bracketed sequence of shots.
As I mentioned yesterday, I prefer this one, but would be interested to hear what you think.
captured camera lens focal length aperture shutter speed shooting mode exposure bias metering mode ISO flash image quality RAW converter cropped?
I prefer this one too - but that may because I like the processing and colours in this over the last.

Think I'm with Libby on this one. Not that it isn't a good shot, but today's shot looks a bit too manufactured for me, as if you've cut and pasted the different elements of the picture from separate places, whereas yesterdays pic seemed to fit together more naturally - I think it's probably down to the colours

David,
I like them both very much, prefer a bit better the 1st. Can you please make a link to the original JPEG shot of the today HDR (I guess your camera made not only a RAW), it would be really interesting to see the difference?

To follow my 1st comment.... I see more in this photo than the HDR work which I honeslty think works well and is not too over done.
As a photo it says more to me about our environment and the fight against pollution and nature and how these things have to co habit (look at ther guy on the beach for instance)
To me it certainly has more to say then the previous shot so in that respect it is a far better & more powerfull photograph / iamge than yesterday.

I prefer this shot to yesterdays in terms of content. The HDR offers an improvement in that it gives a bit more body to the tones (yesterdays was a little 'thin') and depth to the sky. That said the HDR is just a touch overcooked.
I think really OTT HDR definitely adds to certain subjects, mainly those that have a slightly surreal or disjointed quality in any case - like the kiosk on the pier a while ago. But it's at its best when it's used sparingly to enhance and deepen a tonal range without becoming an 'effect' in itself. As a tool, it's no different to the darkroom techniques of the past; burning, shading, dodging, flashing paper, toning etc had their place, but not necessarily in every shot. Look at the work of printers like Larry Bartlett and while it was sometimes really heavy on manipulation, it enhanced images rather than dominating them.

nothing's free in barcelona
expect each day to drift
peel off it's sweat stained slip at sunset
sink it's crumpled shoulders
into seas of purple frothed embraces
every wave a wink of hot pink nothingness
i'm probably going to be embarassed tomorrow that i posted this. ;)))
I definitely prefer this to yesterdays shot. This is also one of the most natural looking HDR shots I've seen but I can see where using HDR really helped out the picture a good bit. Great stuff as always.

Both a very good. This one is different but also well equilibrated. In this case the heavy clouds equilibrate the soft beach. A good use of HDR. In my opinion.
The rocks of Ploumanach on my blog (http://fsunpeudetout.skynetblogs.be/) are old JPGs reprocesed with Photomatix and I like it.

I am with your wife on this. My initial reaction to an HDR image is always a brief run-through of the technique: "oh, it is HDR pic; photomatix is a cool software; blah blah". I think the atmospheric qualities of yesterday's picture transcends that.
I prefer the subject and composition of yesterday's photo but I prefer the processing of today's. If I had to choose one, I found yesterday's more interesting and intriguing.

WOW! Look at that sky. This processing is amazing! Great job!

How lovely to have a power plant by the beach , it is a kind of ironic holiday promo shot ;-) imagine this in the tour broshure ;-)
I think that last days shot is better. This one is too much hdr for me. Not very constructive, sorry. :)
Nice colors, I like the guy on the beach laying there, it finishes the picture.

Lovely shot! Love the way the sand came out!
If it weren't for the blue water and green trees, I would say this looks like a very dystopian scene! I like it a lot.
I agree with you. This one looks more dramatic and interesting. Probably because of the more "radical" composition. Regards.
I like this photo... It's great...
Nice image...like the PP.

it reminds me the cover of a Supertramp album...
