When I was in Barcelona last month I shot an HDR sequence of these columns. This time, by way of contrast, I shot them at sunset. And I would write more about the meetup this weekend, but I'm wiped out this evening after getting back to Blackpool a couple of hours ago. I'll post some more details tomorrow.

This is stunning. I love the patterns of the two rows of lights which act as leading lines to the gorgeous sunset. The vivid complimentary colours are what make this picture sing, I think. Really nice.

This is a great shot. The composition is great, especially in the way that the hills in the background merging in shadow with the columns make perspective & size difficult to guage on the right.

the fading light really gives this on atmosphere,

Dave, Great one! I like this a lot. I like how the glowing vibrant colors diffuse into the dark cloudy sky.

Very nice mood and I like the non symmetrical placement of the columns. It's a clean, simple image, which is a recipe for success. :)

RIP Fleetwood Pier!
Heard the news this morning and immediately thought of all the cracking photos you'd taken. Such a shame to lose a great subject of your work.
Lets hope this trend of pier fires is nothing more than a sad coincidence!!
(Off topic for this photo, but certainly on topic for Chromasia)

Beautiful. Is there anything left of 'your' pier?

Fantastic image Dave! Can you describe the post processing for us and perhaps include a link to the original image? Also, in looking at your earlier image from this location, I'm trying to figure out how you accomplished this perspective (omitting the tower and buildings in background). My guess is you walked beyond the tower and took a low angle to exclude the buildings on the horizon.
Thanks for the continued inspiration from your wonderful imagery.

Thanks all.
Bambography and csj: thanks for the heads-up about Fleetwood pier.
Emma: it was good to meet you too :-)
Jennifer: I'll post a shot of the pier in an hour or so.
Bruce: the post-processing was minimal; i.e. the original looks pretty much like this one. As for the angle: yes, it was shot from alongside the tower. The buildings, on the other hand, were all below the skyline so don't feature in the final image.

Great image. I love the odd, assymetric composition and the slightly inexplicable nature of the content.

David, this is a beautiful image! But I'm a sucker for a nice sunset. ; ))
I love the deep blues and subtle greens in the lights.

this is such a lovely image to look at. Gives me a peaceful feeling somehow.
Find it interesting to see those two lines of columns leading my eye tot the sunset.
