When I've been to what I've thought are fairly obscure places in the past someone has been able to identify the shots I've put up, even if I think they're impossibly obscure, but it seems that this location isn't quite so well known. It's Veliko Tarnovo - the former capital of Bulgaria.
The shot I put up yesterday was a shot of part of the old town, while today's was taken just to the right on the Tsarovets fortress. I'm going to be here until Saturday morning, but if the last few days are anything to go by I'm not going to have a great deal of time for photography. That said, I'll try and post a couple more shots over the next few days.

Is ISO 100 the base ISO for the 1Ds or is the base ISO 200?
Thanks!

Hey David, I hope you're enjoying your stay in my country ;)
The houses in the previous photo are very revealing, actually, only I haven't visited Tarnovo hence when I looked at them I thought it was unlikely that you would choose Bulgaria :)
Anyway, great shots! I wish you have a wonderful time!

The word beautiful doesn't do this one justice.

Wow, great layers of depth. I like how the foreground silhouette cuts through the frame.

I can hear the choir singing in this picture... some long theme from Mahler... glorious.

Gorgeous shot! Great lines/framing...using the shadow/light line as the diagonal that captures the eye and leads you through the picture. Nice atmospheric shot--elicits emotional response.

Nice image, looks very surreal. Gives me a sense of peace.
Nice one David - I like the flow of the sun rays from right to left, somewhat different than the typical "into the sunset" picture.
Simply Beautiful

Wonderful shot! Love the color!
Hi David,
Fascinated with the photo, and to know what else Bulgaria has to offer?
Would you recommend it as a holiday destination?
Sara.
I really like this shot Dave. Lovely colours and great composition!
Gorgeous. Hope what ever you are up to it's fun and not too much like hard work!
Just wonderful with the layers of detail. I love how sharp the bell (?) on the hill looks. The tones are spectacular.
nice atmospheric shot, too bad there is some serious jpg trouble going on in the shadows (foreground right)
Wow what a great picture. I don't know how anyone could identify where this has been taken.
I am not sure if you used filters or just shot this naturally, but is is a very pleasing photo and very commercial.

Adrian

Basically, only two colors. But what a beauty ...
What a peaceful shot. Wonderful colors, fantastic composition, amazing details in the landscape. I could look at this for a long time. :-)
Great and gorgoures Photo - a great mood, vivid colours and nice composition !
Oooh I looks so warm and inviting! I wish I saw skies like that!
Thanks everyone.
Zach: ISO 100 is the standard setting. There is a low setting (ISO 50), but I rarely use it.
nick: yes, thanks, I thought Bulgaria was a great country.
baahjun: I can't see the jpeg problem you mentioned on my monitor.
Adrian: I didn't use any filters, but did tone the image in Photoshop.
Really beautiful!
A world would be a better place if there were more photos like this one!
