Very nice contrast between the warm and cool tones. I really like the pebbles. Have you processed in lab mode?

Love the contrasting perspectives and detail. Pebbles gathering around their yellow commander to do battle with the mighty ocean! Sorry... it's finally election day here and I have finally lost it :)

Gosh, what is that? Is it a lantern waiting to shine for Obama?

While I like the image overall, I'm not enamoured of the out of focus sky, which has something of a 'video game' feel to it. It somehow doesn't look photographically 'natural', more like digital post processing than lens effect, although it works OK for the beach and sea. I think it's in that (kind of Lib Dem) zone you get with depth of field on certain subjects where it demands to be either pin sharp or more out of focus than it is. 2p>

E y e V i s i o n: no, this one was done in RGB.
Martin: it is on the west coast, so if he's standing tall enough at the end of day he might be able to see it ;-)
Mark: I hadn't thought about it that way, but I can see what you mean. What probably doesn't help is that I sharpened the lamp a bit more harshly than I would normally; i.e. the contrast in focus between the areas is more pronounced than as-shot.

Nice image, I like it. I wasn't sure what the yellow item was when I first saw it. I enjoy the colors and the shallow depth behind it. Excellent as usual.

It's surprising what a splash of bold color can do for an otherwise nondescript image. The choice to seperate the image in terms of focus was probably a good one, as this shot is all about the colorful subject up front. Nice image.

Nice one - sure you lift these odd items and plant them :-) Barack is like a breath of fresh air - fingers crossed for him.

Thanks all.
Jennifer: all the beachcombing shots I've ever posted have been of things that I've found on the beach, on the day. I may move them a bit ... sometimes ... but I've never taken any with me :-)

First of all, thanks for all the kind words on my last image – it's a style I think I'll try again, so it was good to see that it was well received.
Today's though, as I'm sure you'll agree, is more my usual style: shot this afternoon on Fleetwood beach.
Update: on a totally unrelated matter ...
I've just got up and listened to Barack Obama's victory speech on the BBC News site. Very impressive :-)
