After posting a textured shot yesterday, and a psuedo-HDR the day before that, I thought it was about time for something a little more conventional, and while this one isn't quite as eye-catching as some of the stuff I've been posting recently I was pleased to spot it.

In case you're wondering, it's an Elvis t-shirt behind a broken shop window, taken while I was out and about with Craig the weekend before last. If you take a look at the EXIF data you will get an idea as to how dull and grey the day had become; i.e. shooting at 1/30, f/2.8 at ISO 320 ... outdoors. Craig's shot from much the same part of our trek is here: a rather desolate view of Blackpool seafront in winter.

On a totally different matter: keep your fingers crossed for Libby over the next few hours. She's out tonight at the Northwest Women in Business Awards 2009 awards ceremony as she's been nominated for the Best New Business category in her role as head honcho of our training company (i.e. the one that runs our online Photoshop tutorials, sorts out one-to-one training, and so on).

One of these days we might actually get to go to one of these events together, but at the moment Tabby is still a bit little to be left with a sitter, so I'm at home: hoping that I can get her to go to bed in the absence of her mum. So, if you don't have anything to do with your other hand this evening, after firmly crossing your fingers on the other one, you can cross the second lot for me. It could be a rather long evening :)

"Shattered dreams" that was the first thought that popped in my mind.
A very clever use of that texture, without reading your text, the mystery of how you achieved it is intriguing.
Nicely done. Good luck with that award :)

I actually thought it was a texture and not a real broken window. Not really my cup of tea but I guess for the conditions you're describing it's quite a good effort. Good luck with all the rest!

I also thought it was a texture! Good work! And good luck for both!

what a surprise !!! how I --and others it would appear-- thought this image was done by other nefarious schemes than plain ol' conventional ! Before I read the comments I swear I thought you'd done an HDR treatment on Elvis' face and then a (broken glass) texture overlay on the whole image. An intriguing image!

And best of luck (with all fingers an' toes crossed) Daddy AND Mom!

I was another that thought this was a textured layer added before I read the text. Well spotted and cleanly shot.
