We gave the kids the option of the park or the beach this afternoon, and I was pleased that they chose the beach, not least because I didn't fancy photographing the ducks again :)
And beyond that, I don't have a great deal to say about this one other than to tell you that a) it's a shot of Rhowan, wandering about in a very calm sea in her wellies, and b) that it looks much better set against the black theme.
If you're interested (at Gary's request), I've posted the original here:

Don't you hate it when the flash doesn't fire?! ;-)
Great shot. Really like this one.

As ever, your colour shifts are magic! Would love to see the original for this.

She stays like a teardrop in the water. Because of colors it seems to me like a plastic game of high technologies - a good mix between nature/dreaming & future views. As always dave you know ... you was born with a eos on the left and creativity on the right hand. *pieps*.

Wow, Stunning contrast between the purple sky and your childs silhouette. Would you be able to tell me what you shot this with? ND Grads?
comment by David at 10:15 PM (GMT) on 15 March, 2009
Excellent shot, David. Between the ripples, the beautiful colors and striking composition, you have a winner here. Nicely done.

Stunning! It looks like she just landed there at the moment of your photograph.
Beautiful!

Well, much better the "violet" version. There are three things that shocks me on this image 1) the smoothness of the violet tones, 2) The concentric waves and 3) the strength of the black silhouette. Really beautiful.

Oneof the most striking and enjoyable shots of yours lately - I love the colour change and the effect of the silhouette. I actually thought she was facing away from us, looking in the right hand distance - and that edge of hand was her right hand!
Nice bit of cloning too, makes all the difference.

A beautiful image - a lot warmer than many of your images, and although the colours have obviously been altered, it doesn't look unnatural.
Fills me with thoughts of remeniscence!
As mentioned above, it shows what can be done with an otherwise relatively plain photograph. Thanks.
Excellent color process, great play of lights and shadows.
comment byAdam Stevens at 08:29 PM (GMT) on 16 March, 2009
Great colors! Don't take this the wrong way, but it looks like there should be a unicorn walking up to her to be pet. Don't know if it's the color, or the strong silhouette but it just says "otherworldly" to me.
Great capture & process!

I've never seen anything like this! It is superb pic Dave and I agree with Adam...the unicorn is somewhere out there!

Great texture in the ripples and the colours work well. I am especially glad that you included the original image though. I think it really helps to make others appreciate that a striking image is partly in the taking, but can also be what you do with it in the darkroom/Photoshop. In any case, the final effect is very striking.
Excellent vision between the original and end result, I actually believed the colours which is a testament to a feeling of reality. Love the silouette in comprison to the original too.
Drop dead Chromasia.

What a magnificent capture... The color of the sky is breath catching.
Excellent use of color here. A dark feel like wandering out into a lost world... Impressive.
Wonderfull ... great sky, excellent framing and a nice silouetted person in the foreground ... everything the eye needs ... well done!
Hello David. I really like the treatment you've given this one. That pink/purple hue works lovely with Rowan just as an outline.
