As I mentioned in my last post, I haven't been especially well since arriving in Bulgaria, and have taken very few photographs, but am pleased to say that I'm now definitely on the mend. I haven't ventured out with my camera yet, but did shoot some portraits of Rhowan and Harmony this afternoon.
This one, as I'm sure most of you will know, is of Rhowan: sporting her new glasses. When I was a kid, being short-sighted was a social stigma, not least because the National Health glasses that were available at the time were hideous, but times have changed: to the extent that Rhowan was delighted to find out she was short sighted enough to need some designer frames like her mum's :)

Rho, very very cool glasses, they suit you! I'm glad dad has finally picked up his camera, and aimed it at something...... more than he did whilst I was there... :-( He can even focus it!, he must be on the mend!...... CJ
Una preciosidad. Como siempre, las fotos de tus hijos son geniales.

Well... I would very much like to have a conversation with this stunning young lady. I am sure that her beauty would only be matched by her wit and sharp mind. Beautiful portrait... I can see a tender heart behind those eyes.

By the way... the glasses are tres chic! tres now! tres oo la la! :)

What a great capture. Focus is perfect and the depth of field plays well. Add in the processing and you have a real wall hanger. I have also really come to appreciate the quality of the files from this camera. Well don.

Dave

I found myself studying your photograph for quite a while, which obviously means that I like it very much. I like how the swirls in her hat play well with the linear swirls in her hair. I like the stark contrast of the mature glasses against her youthful face. The glasses do give her an intellectual air, dont' they? And of course, I love your trademark toning treatment.
One suggestion or thought for your consideration: try shooting your daughter wearing her new glasses with a longer lens aimed at her chest to give her a more mature, regal look. Rather than me blathering on, I'll refer you to a blog written entry by well known Jerry Avenaim.

Thanks everyone, from both me and Rhowan.
Kevin: thanks for the link, and that's a good suggestion.
Love the comp and processing. Very smooth digital B&W. My how they get old quickly!
Very, very cool glasses! It's a entirely new look for Rhowan! I just love the shots of your two girls! Rhowan is such a beautiful girl.
I love the whole portrait, but the intense, challenging look in her eyes is what really captures my attention.
